Job Description
Responsibilities
- Develops new ideas and methods for deploying and managing private cloud systems and provides expertise to project teams to ensure timely deployment and high availability architectures.
- Maintains the integrity, performance and security of cloud platforms, servers and Windows systems.
- Involved in design, deployment, integration and operation of automated infrastructure-centric products, including developing Ansible and Chef.
- Design, configure and deploy the VMware compute platform, physical and virtual servers, and associated private cloud infrastructure and tools.
- Perform performance tuning and troubleshooting of Windows systems, VMware and critical infrastructure.
- Develop micro-services to reduce execution time and design methods for the automating implementations and day-to-day support services, processes, and procedures.
- Defines and implements standards and best practices for management of the VMware and Windows environment.
- Engagement with cyber security team to perform testing, configuration compliance, and security centric investigations and remediations.
- Mentors and consults with outsourced team members, customers and vendors on complex issues.
- Integrates technical expertise and business requirements to create application hosting solutions and infrastructure designs.
- Design and engineer HA and DR solution using VMware SRM and fault tolerance.
- Provide L3 support and on-going maintenance activities on Windows servers and critical systems to ensure system are properly monitored with relevant thresholds and data is being backed-up.
- Develop system migration strategies that preserve the availability, performance, integrity, stability, and scalability of systems.
- Design, implement and provide guidance on evolving management, patching and monitoring tools and processes to ensure the infrastructure environment is operating as expected.
Education and Experience
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science (or related field and a minimum of 10 years of related experience) or 15 years of equivalent working experience.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong design and administration experience of virtualized systems using VMware and SRM.
- Microsoft RemoteApps and Remote Session experience.
- Advanced HA cluster experience using Microsoft Clustering Services (both bare metal and VM) required.
- Advanced knowledge Windows and VMware management and monitoring tools.
- Advanced knowledge of VMWare and hypervisor technology design and management.
- Windows Server and storage administration, including Server Operating Systems (2008R2 - 2019).
- Working knowledge of Infrastructure Architectures and how they interact with each other across traditional and Cloud-based landscapes.
- Strong interpersonal and written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of individuals including technical and non-technical staff.
- Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience implementing enterprise size Citrix or VMWare VDI solutions a plus.
