Job Description
- Design and implement complex cross-platform systems in an agile development environment utilizing the latest tools and healthcare information technology standards
- Work with Project Managers, Clinical Staff, Analysts, Designers, and other Developers to translate user and architectural requirements into secure, well-tested implementations
- Break down complex requirements into attainable well-documented feature functionality sets, leveraging clinical data/information architecture standards and/or designing new data models from scratch if necessary
- Develop and review detailed technical specifications for ensuring sufficient quality and compliance with architectural standards
- Assist in reviewing vendor products, providing input on compliance of products to architectural standards and impacts to projects and environment
- Work with the QA team to develop and build plans for usability testing, unit testing, system testing, and load testing
- Estimate and communicate the time and resources necessary to complete programming projects. Seek review from other Developers, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, or Project Managers on estimates
- Lead by example to grow our team?s continuous improvement, code quality, and software craftsmanship, and mentor teammates across the seniority spectrum in best practices
- Become an advocate for growing, improving, and evolving our organizational knowledge base in health informatics
- Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
- Continuously evaluate existing processes and make recommendations for further improvement
- Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science or related field (additional certifications in health informatics preferred)
- 5 years working as a senior software developer in healthcare technology
- Deep knowledge of clinical data modeling best practices
- Extensive experience with health informatics and standards:
- HL7 v2, v3 and RIM
- FHIR, SMART on FHIR
- Mirth Connect or other interoperability engines
- CDS Hooks
- CQL
- CCDA, CCR, CCD
- CCDS, USCDI
- DICOM, NCPDP
- EDI X12
- Direct
- Strong understanding of the following technologies and tools:
- Java, Javascript, Angular
- RESTful APIs and Web Services
- API Security Federated Identity Technology such as OAUTH 2.0, Open ID Connect, UMA and SAML 2.0
- AWS EC2, S3, RDS
- Aurora, Glue
- DevOps tools (Docker, Ansible)
- Mercurial, Git Version Control
- In-depth understanding of:
- Distributed systems
- Object-oriented design fundamentals and best practices
- Web services implementation and healthcare data in the cloud
- Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)
- Database management
- HL7 Certifications:
- CDA Specialist
- V2.x Chapter 2 Control Specialist
- V3 RIM Specialist
- FHIR R4 and STU3 Proficiency Exam
- Must have stable internet connection minimum of 5 MBPS
- Must be comfortable working the US business hours
- Must own a laptop with at least 8 GB memory
