Job Description
- Directs to departmental group of Engineers & Designers in absence of discipline head.
- Manage the discipline for safe, operable and economic designs ranging conceptual, front-end, detailed design & close-outs.
- Performs discipline check and Inter-discipline check of documents. Ensures that the required integrity and quality of the work is maintained. Familiar with the Quality/HSE Management system and their procedures
- Preserves and extends technical know-how
- Ensures timely corrective actions for the identified non-conformities.
- Reviews Clients documents / contract requirements for proper understanding of requirements for project execution.
- Executes the engineering & design works within budget and schedule.
- Keeps a track of consumed engineering hours with reference to actual progress. Points out if some missing or contradicting data is affecting the progress.
- Co-ordinates with other disciplines & resolves the engineering issues. Provides engineering inputs during all design phases including interpretation and application of standards.
- Actively communicates with other disciplines to optimize areas of interface, during the design development, review and check processes. Ensures design packages meet the relevant safety, environmental & ergonomic standards.
- Discusses with support engineers and designers regularly on scope, engineering hours, resources and schedule etc.
- Prepares material requisitions, evaluate technical bids & reviews Vendor / third party documents.
- Participates in the Technical reviews and progress review of projects. Familiar with the Company procedures and international standards & codes.
- Maintains proper record of documentation to ease quick retrieval.
- Visits Clients, attends seminars/ workshops and makes Technical presentations
- Reviews the scope of work and seeks clarifications for ambiguous / Incomplete /
- incorrect /contradicting information.
- Assists Department Head in preparing engineering hour estimates.
- Provides input to the project execution planning and scheduling. Identifies project specific engineering and design elements which requires sub-contracting.
- Mentors and develops junior staff to fulfil discipline engineering roles, helps facilitates
- team building.
- Sound knowledge of engineering work flow and inter discipline interfaces for engineering.
- Good knowledge of organization and system procedures.
- General knowledge of management techniques, business processes.
- Sound experience in Field of Rotating equipment & Packages in Oil & Gas sector, Tank Terminals and Refinery sector.
- Experience in preparation of Specifications, Data sheets & Technical Bid evaluation of Rotating equipment & packages
- Experience in Selection of Pumps, Compressors, Turbines, Packages like Boilers, Hot oil units, Utility generation units, Oily water separators, ETP, Water treatment plants, Fire water pumps, refrigeration packages, gas treatment units, Flares etc. alongwith major static equipments.
- Experience in Vendor interaction and review of Vendor docs/ Drawings.
- Inter department co-ordination and co-ordination with clients to ensure conformance of the deliverables to the contract requirements.
- Knowledge of Indian as well as international codes, standards & practices.
- Sound technical knowledge of related discipline.
- Knowledge and Experience in FAT of Equipment/ Systems.
