Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

• Identify areas of optimization across the stack and work with other product and infrastructure teams to implement performance enhancements to improve the member experience
• Build a Culture of Performance by evangelizing and scaling performance optimizations and best practices across LinkedIn
• Influence product roadmaps and design decisions to ensure optimal performance and efficiency of our applications and data centers.
• In addition, take on performance analysis and optimization challenges in one or more of the areas below:
• System performance: Analyze, understand and debug how application interacts with OS and how OS interacts with underlying hardware in a distributed system setting.
• Mobile performance: Enhance user experience by profiling, analyzing and optimizing user experience on iOS and Android devices
• Web performance: Implement and evangelize web performance best practices to the development team and drive decisions around Javascript frameworks and tool choices
• End-to-End performance analysis: Analyze large scale distributed environments and optimize performance bottlenecks in our application stack
• Infrastructure improvements: Improve the performance of network infrastructure, application infrastructure or data infrastructure
• Capacity Planning & Optimization: Work with other engineering teams and DevOps to understand and optimize site-wide capacity

Desired Candidate Profile

• 3 years of programming experience - preferred Java, SQL
• 2 years experience with test automation/scripting - preferred Selenium
• 2 years experience with open-source or commercial load generation tools - preferred JMeter or Blazemeter
• 2 years experience with synthetic, front-end monitoring tools like Webpagetest and New Relic - preferred Webpagetest
• 1 years experience in Java performance analysis using tools like JProfiler, Dynatrace APM or similar
• 1 year experience with any public cloud platform - preferred AWS or Azure
• Good to have - Shell-scripting and python experience
• Good to have - Tableau and big query experience
