Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Backup and recovery design, implementation and maintenance
- Monitoring and alerting for on-prem and cloud environments
- Patching
- Network/Firewall design and support
- Discovery, design and implementation of new technologies and methodologies
- 3rd line Support for our colleagues across the globe in all their endeavours
- General operations tasks, building and maintaining VM servers, troubleshooting issues
- Aruba and Cisco wifi and network switch management
- Physical server management (using remote access, hands on is provided elsewhere)
- Simple DBA tasks
- Application management
- Liaise with Dev & Ops teams and IT management of the company
Desired Candidate Profile:
- College degree (BA or BS) Management Information Systems, Information Security, Information Technology, or related field
- 5+ years experience with managing enterprise level technology or 5+ years in a related role with increasing scope, responsibility, and complexity at a multinational company
- IT related certifications are preferred
- Several years of Linux, Windows and Unix system administration expertise
- A good understanding of MS Active Directory and Identity Management in general
- Must have good understanding of cloud-based architecture and security controls as well as hand-on experience securely implementing AWS or other cloud services
- An understanding of modern web hosting environments: HAProxy/ RoR/ Mysql/ Postgres/ Apache/Node.js
- Experience of virtualisation technologies, especially VMWare
- Network management experience of switch, router and firewall configuration, experience with UTM/Next Gen firewalls is desirable, especially Fortinet and Cisco
- Good knowledge of object stores, Parallel File Systems and erasure coding with hands on experience of at least one parallel FS.
- Experience of containerisation technologies, for example Docker, Kubernetes, Openshift
- Should be able to script in one or more the following - MS Powershell, Bash. Ruby, PHP, Javascript.
- Experience with configuration management techniques and/or platforms and infrastructure as code principles (eg Chef, Puppet, Ansible)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab a plus)
