Doctors Without Borders/ Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is an international,
independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people
affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters and exclusionfrom
healthcare in more than 70 countries. DWB offers assistance to people in need and
irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation.
Doctors Without Borders has worked in India since 1999, providing free-of-charge essential
healthcare to people in remote areas; treatment and care for people affected by HIV/AIDS,
malnutrition; hepatitis C, tuberculosis, kala azar and sexual and gender-based violence; an
important subject for our action is containing effect of antibiotic resistance. We also
respond to natural disasters and other emergencies, provides mental healthcare and
advocates for the development of more effective and affordable medicines to improve
access to treatment everywhere.
Doctors without Borders was awarded the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and
Development in 1996 and the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999.
Doctor without Borders India (DWBI) runs projects in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar,
Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand,Maharashtra,Manipur,andTelangana.
Doctors Without Borders India (DWBI) and the endTB project
Doctors Without Borders, and its partners i.e. Partners In Health (PIH), Interactive Research
and Development (IRD), Epicentre, France, Institute of Tropical Medicine, Belgium and the
Harvard Medical School have launched two major clinical trials, endTB and endTB-Q which
seek to revolutionize treatment for the toughest strains of tuberculosis (TB), the worlds
leading infectious disease killer. The goal of these studies is to generate high quality
evidence from a highly heterogeneous population that could lead to a change in the global
recommendations for the management of MDR-TB.
The endTB trials are multi-country, randomized, controlled, Phase III clinicaltrial testing five
new, all oral, shorter duration regimens compared to the current standard of care. The aim
of the trials is to find shorter, less toxic and injection-free treatments for multidrug-
resistant TB (MDR-TB). The experimental regimens mainly rely on newly approved or
repurposed drugs and avoid drugs to which high rates of resistance have been reported in
MDR-TB patient populations.These multi-country trials are being conducted in
Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Lesotho, Pakistan, Peru, South Africa and Vietnam. InIndia the
trials are conducted at Mumbai and Pune sites by Doctors Without Borders India (DWBI) in
Partnership with ICMR- National AIDS Research Institute (NARI) and in support with
National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP).

Languages: English, Hindi & Marathi. Main Tasks & Responsibilities
Accountabilities :
In cooperation with the Pharmacy Manager, assisting in the supervision, management and control of the medical stock in
the project in order to avoid ruptures, losses and gross overstock of drugs and other supplies and overseeing and
monitoring its storage conditions
In cooperation with the Pharmacy Manager, assisting on a monthly basis with preparation and approval of orderrequests,
ensuring they are completed in timely manner to prevent unnecessary orders in between. Following up on drug ruptures.
In cooperation with the Pharmacy Supervisor and other DWBI team members, assisting in the supervision, management,
follow up and control of medical/supply stock in the DWBI office, expat houses, and DWBI cars. This includes physical
count, ordering and monitoring of expired dates.
Assisting with the collection of consumption from facilities on at least a monthly basis and collecting dataabout numberof
patients. Cooperating with and assisting the Pharmacy Manager in all related monthly reports, and under the Pharmacy
Managers supervision, communicating and providing medical data to relevant DWBI team members
Providing programs continuity during supervisors absence and handovers; sharing knowledge of program with incoming
staff in a timely, accurate and efficient manner
Assisting in preparing and organizing training sessions for DWBI staff.
Dispensing:
Preparation of blister packs and dispensing of the drugs as per the prescription issued by Medical doctors.
Coordination with study clinic team for distribution of trial drugs to the patients and collection of unused drugs to
maintain the accountability
In support with Pharmacy supervisor addressing the drugs related queries from clinic team and patients.
Create and maintain database for dispensing and usage of drugs using tools and software provided by project.
Pharmacy regulatory compliance
Ensure that all study drugs are stored according to protocol/SOP/manufacturers instructions in restricted access area to
prevent loss or use by unauthorised individuals.
Maintain pharmacy temperature conditions and continuous temperature monitoring: recordthe storagetemperatureand
relative humidity twice daily, except for the days off.
Perform weekly uploads from the data logger records to an electronic device and USB key, and retainthe printedversionof
data logger reports in the pharmacy site file.
Assist with pharmacy quality assurance and quality control processes.
Ensure implementation of GDP guidelines:
Complete and maintain pharmacy records for the sponsor and regulatory audits.
Assist monitors in drug accountability visits.
In case of a cold chain break down or related inconsistencies, reporting to Site Coordinator and Sponsor as per the
reporting guidelines
Investigational product.
Assist with procurement of trial medication
Receive trial drugs from suppliers; document receipt and resolve discrepancies.
Maintain accurate and proper records for all drugs received and distributed by the trial pharmacy, according to trial SOPs.
Facilitate the transport of drugs from dispensing pharmacy to study clinic with proper measures and as andwhenrequired
to participants residence.
Prepare weekly medication blister packs for participants as per prescriptions from trial doctors, in accordance with trial
SOP, under direct supervision of the trial pharmacist.
Label trial medication before dispensing, in accordance with trial SOP, under supervision of the trial pharmacist.
Dispense trial medication, as per specific protocol/SOP requirements, under the supervision of the trial
pharmacist.
Counsel and educate patients on drug administration, side effect,andadherence underdirectsupervision
of the trial pharmacist.
To ensure that stored stock is kept clean, dry and secure at all times. Dispensing Pharmacy is kept clean
and tidy to allow for ease of access and safety considerations.
To facilitate and monitor regular cleaning of Dispensing Pharmacy.
Security & Infection Control
Follow DWBI guidelines at all times.
To be flexible to rotate all interventions of the project.
Qualification
Graduation in Pharmacy Essential
Registration with Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council is essential
Masters degree in Pharmacy or PG Diploma in clinical research is desirable
