Job Description
Principal Data Analyst
We are looking for an experienced Principal Data Analyst to lead the development and use of data within our systems. The Data Lead/Manager will oversee the team that develops and maintains the highest levels of data competency, accuracy standards and reporting capacity across our PinPoint software platform and systems.
A great data lead/manager can fully grasp the complexity of data management. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of databases, data analysis procedures and cloud-based systems. You will be tech-savvy and possess excellent communication and troubleshooting skills. You will be communicating on a frequent basis with teams in India and the UK.
The data manager/lead will be responsible for developing and delivering our data strategy. You will lead the vision on how data and metrics can support the PinPoint platform long term strategy and enhance our service offering. The data manager/lead champions and promotes best practices in data management for the full term of the data lifecycle. You will work closely with our software delivery teams, the Information Security Manager, Technical Leads and IT Security teams to ensure the strictest standards of protection and data security in all aspects of data management, data access, data quality and reporting are adhered to. You will discover efficient ways to organize, store and analyse data with attention to security and confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
- Manages overall data architecture and manages, develops, prioritises and recommends initiatives to improve and build upon the data architecture to support the business.
- Ensures consistency of process and usage, and champions best practices and quality in data management
- Oversees data accuracy SOPs [standard operating procedures], processes, goals, audits, assessment and the legitimacy of data.
- Management and progression of local development and data teams
- Technical programme management of local development and data team activities
- Ensures resolution of data conflicts between systems and within the data warehouse.
- Works with internal stakeholders, peers and technical leads to develop strategies for leveraging data to create additional client services and add value
- Ensures rigorous adherence to ISO27001 policies regarding information management and data security. Works with the software development manager and other technical leads to ensure GDPR compliance, Penetration Tests and other information security processes are adhered to and completed successfully.
- Responsible for user experience with data and reporting tools.
- Involved in the design, creation and management of Business Intelligence Reporting
- Devise and implement efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis with attention to all technical aspects
- Establish rules and procedures for data sharing and reporting with senior management, external stakeholders etc.
- Support others in the daily use of data systems and ensure adherence to legal and company standards
- Ensure scalability and performance of the data systems
- Monitor and analyse information and data systems and evaluate their performance to discover ways of enhancing them (new technologies, upgrades etc.)
- Ensure data and archives are protected from security breaches and data losses
- Troubleshoot data-related problems and authorise maintenance or modifications
- Applies judgment to analyse complex situations where procedures are still under development.
- Regularly interacts with team members both within and outside of your team, as well as clients, participants, and partners in carrying out their work assignments.
- Accountable for getting work done through others in your team. Planning work, filling jobs, assigning work, scheduling, coaching, and measuring work of others. Raises performance successes and concerns.
- Requires an in-depth application of a specialised body of knowledge and is considered an authority or subject matter expert in your field within the organization. At this level of competency, a team member applies in-depth knowledge to enhance and identify new directions of policies, services and systems.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a data lead/manager
- Requires at least eight years of related work experience.
- Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions (collection, analysis, distribution etc.)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- BSc/MSc in computer science, data management or relevant field
- Extensive experience managing and analysing data, including a strong understanding of Cloud data integration, data warehouses and data management.
- Strong technical programme management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures.
- Skilled proficiency in preparation of reports, presentations, summaries and analysis
