## What are we looking for?
We are looking for a Senior Software Developer that enjoys what they do. You will have a passion for development but also have the expertise in project management and team mentor-ship.
You will be able to communicate effectively with different parts of our business both technical and non-technical to obtain project information and assist in project planning.
Crucially we are looking for someone that can assist in driving innovation forward within our Platform squad which is responsible for maintaining and developing a number of APIs and systems
## What are your expectations of me?
We expect you to have at least 5 years full-time experience in building software solutions in PHP with good communication and project management skills. Ultimately we want you to become part of the Platforms team and help drive innovation within the company whilst further progressing your skills. You will be pivotal in assisting the squad lead with mentoring alongside, designing and prototyping new features and systems so great organisational skills are a must.
We are currently redeveloping a number of our existing systems into Laravel, this will allow us to get our solutions to market quicker and have a better understanding of how our systems are implemented. The current systems are written in NodeJS but we will be looking to migrate away from this as soon as possible. Given this we would require you to have exposure and an active interest in the following:
Technical Skills
- An expert level knowledge of OO PHP, MySQL, Linux (LAMP Stack) aimed at the Laravel framework.
- Expertise with development life-cycle methodologies and best practice.
- Demonstrable experience with at least one modern Javascript framework such as React, VueJS or NodeJS
- A good understanding of web frontend technologies (Javascript, HTML & CSS, SCSS)
- Proven experience building software solutions in Laravel
- Experience of designing and developing RESTful API solutions
- A deep understanding of the use of a git based workflow system and git-flow
- Understanding of container-based architecture/virtualisation through the use of systems such as Docker
- Working with Product Managers to design and prototype features
- Integrating with on-site and off-site teams for a continuous delivery workflow. This will involve:
- Peer-reviewing other developers code.
- Source-control and Agile workflows.
- Deploying releases to various environments.

- Articulate and clear: Can put ideas across simply and clearly, and organize a complex reality into a simple and logical structure.
- Co-operation and influence: Sees impacts of change across the organization, gets buy in from stakeholders, positive and creative engagement. Can coach and lead junior team members.
Dont worry, we are not expecting you to be an expert in all of the above skills but having exposure to them would certainly assist in your application.
