Main Tasks & Responsibilities
Accountabilities :
Identify the psychosocial, socio-economic and administrative needs for patients
Actively promote the availability of counseling services and carry out, individual or in group counseling,
basic psycho-educational sessions, to patients, their families (when needed), in order to alleviate their
psychosocial difficulties within the project scope.
Carry out the functions and tasks associated to his/her specialty, i.e. performas a nurse,midwife,lab tech
and anesthetist, whenever required or needed, in order to optimize the resources, contributing with
his/her knowledge and experience.
Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures, and supervise his/her team follow the same
standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her specialty.
Organize and coordinate the activities of his/her team (weeks schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.),
evaluate their performance and define and ensure the needs for training of staff, in order to ensure the
coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.
Carry-out and/or coordinate administrative (exit-paper, transfer-paper, etc.), information and data
collection (patient files, forms, statistics, etc.) tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have
updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome and
support decision-making.
DWBI Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
Ensure high-quality delivery of education by nurses internally and externally according to project needs.
Participate in the general planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of clinic function in
collaboration with Site Co-ordinator (Mumbai).
Responsible for the planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of nursing activities in
collaboration with Site Co-ordinator & MHAM
Creation of standard operating procedures for nursing activities and training nursing staff.
Oversee all routine nursing care (e.g.: assessment, recording vital signs, injections, dressings).
Plan and implement the follow up of patients liaising regularly with medical, Site Co-ordinator, patient
support and operational research teams as relevant.
Coordinating the activities of hospitalized patients between nurses, patient support team and doctors
Ensure that patient file information are entered and maintained by Nurses and Physicians. Maintains
documentation of patient care services by auditing patient and department records.
Prepare roster (work and leave schedule) for nursing staff.
Follow up lab results ensuring correct details are recorded in patient notes and computer database.
Ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment by verifying equipment availability
completing preventive maintenance requirements; maintaining equipment inventories.
Helps in adverse event identification & reports it to medical doctor for further management
Ensure proper financial & administrative management (eg: patient transport reimbursement)
Co-coordinating distribution of drugs to patients from pharmacy
IEC
Provide training and encourage those under responsibility to prepare and present same for nurses and
ancillary staff.
In collaboration with the technical medical referent, prepare and monitor education to be provided for
external use, DOT providers, hospital/hospice/orphanage staff.
Health Facility Empanelment:
In close communication with Site Co-ordinator , evaluate local actors and maintain relationships with
possible partners concerning patients hospitalization, medical examinations, ambulance services, DOT
management, and general care.
Reporting
Together with the Site Co-ordinator (Mumbai) make a report of nursing activities for project reports.
To report HRM issues related to staff to Site Co-ordinator (Mumbai)
To be flexible to rotate all interventions of the project. Duration 12 Months (Renewable)
Location: Mumbai (Sarvodaya Hospital, Ghatkopar)
Expected Start Date: 1st December 2020 Qualifications: Specialty (nurse, lab tech, midwife or anesthetist) diploma essential. Diploma in
clinical research is desirable.
Experience: Essential 2 years of previous experience Having worked in DWBI or similar
