Job Description

As an Engineering Director, Enterprise Cloud Platform you will be part of the Product Engineering Team of Cloud that build core Cloud capabilities to enable Application teams to build modern applications. The architecture includes PaaS/IaaS/CICD/Containers (Docker) components in a Hybrid Cloud model and technologies that drive to build modern applications.

Responsibilities :

Lead the core Engineering activities in India to supplement global Engineering activities and build Cloud capabilities for American Express Developers to build next generation applications in an Agile model
Manage multiple local Scrum teams in collaboration with global Engineering and product organization
Collaborate with global Product, Engineering and Ops teams to build, prune, and execute the roadmap to the Organizational goals
Develop and maintain a high caliber team that can design and develop high quality products for American Express
Partner locally with local AET (American Express Technology) teams to guide and assist in design and develop modern application architectures
Lead the Bangalore site Cloud Engineering activities to promote colleague engagement and American Express global culture
Liaise effectively with the product teams and establish highly collaborative, productive, partnerships with stakeholders
Keep up with the latest industry research and emerging technologies to ensure we are appropriately leveraging new techniques and capabilities
Ensure product releases are high quality, deliver excellent user experiences, perform seamlessly at scale, and comply with regulatory requirements

Minimum Qualifications

10+ years of experience in Engineering Management of highly available enterprise grade software and platform applications
Proven engineering delivery experience working with global teams
Understanding of Cloud Native Principles and Microservices application architectures
Experience in building API driven platforms with strong understanding of application development languages/platforms (Java, .NET, Go, Python, etc.)
Understanding of key Cloud platform tech stacks and databases such as Redis, Kafka, Couchbase, Postgres, etc.
Experience in Kubernetes, Docker Containers, Container Orchestrations, Cloud Native applications, Stateless and Stateful workloads
Excellent understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CICD) tools and processes (Example: Jenkins, Ansible, etc.)
Excellent understanding of modern IaaS/PaaS platforms, Virtualization, Containers, Network, Storage, monitoring tools, Logging analytic tools (Splunk, etc.)
Thorough understanding of Agile principles and processes
Passion and drive for quality of Software and Infrastructure products
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related science discipline or relevant experience
