Job Location: KOLKATA
The Test Engineer is responsible for writing code/scripts, identifying tools for functional and non-functional tests, and contributing to the automated test frameworks to ensure the delivery of high quality software and products.
The Test Engineer designs test plans, procedures, and code/scripts to accurately assess new products and updates in accordance to product requirements and department quality standards. The Test Engineer will collaborate with other engineering groups to define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret tests for products, systems, components, and software modifications. The Test Engineer will contribute to the establishment and use of the build pipeline.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain complex integration, functional, and non-functional tests, and automated test frameworks across teams, to ensure the holistic quality of the software
- Lead and maintain the implementation of the delivery pipeline, including test automation,
frameworks, build environments, test environments, and security
- Lead the verification of system functionality by executing complex automated and manual tests, analyzing results, and providing recommendations. Create and manage performance metrics, defects/enhancements, test cases, and test results within a team.
- Operate as a trusted advisor on issues and trends; provide general consulting services leveraging expertise and best practice knowledge; identify and implement better test tools and automation methodology.
- Analyze and report test results and monitor trends over time; provide guidance to teams to continuously improve
- Mentor, coach, train, and provide feedback to other team members; may provide feedback to
leadership on technical abilities of team
- Research complex escalations for production issues or software issues to ensure the stability of the application
- Complete complex peer code reviews for test automation code and incorporate feedback into
automated tests
- Influence and lead on standards and processes of team and events, including planning, work
estimation, peer reviews, and test design
- Assess the business value and broader impact of software changes when designing automated tests; contribute to the prioritization of team backlog
- Comply with all corporate and departmental privacy and data security policies and practices,
including but not limited to, Hylands Information Systems Security Policy
Minimum Qualifications
- A B.E/ B.Tech or equivalent degree and a minimum of 5+ years of related experience would be required
- Also required would be a good understanding and experience in one or more of: Soap UI, Postman, Selenium, Protractor, Cucumber, JMeter, Burp Suite, RestAssured
- Demonstrated experience with test automation and continuous integration tools
- Proficient in oral and written communication
- Fast learner, highly organized and experienced in demonstrating focus to complete the highest priorities
- Adeptness to effectively collaborate with employees, customers and partners from diverse academic, professional and cultural backgrounds
- Knowledge of all phases of test lifecycle
- Knowledge of software application testing tools, methodologies, and process framework
- Experience with test automation and continuous integration tools
- Knowledge of documenting standards, practice guidelines and/or standards
- Experience with test design
- Experience with using source control systems
- Experience in development on Windows/Linux platforms
- Demonstrated experience with scripting tools
- Demonstrated experience with build environments and delivery pipelines
- Demonstrated experience with programming or scripting
- Experience with database technology
- Experience with Agile frameworks
- Experience with regression testing
- Good oral and written communications skills that demonstrate a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with others with discretion and tact
- Good organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills
- Good collaboration skills, applied successfully within team as well as with other areas
- Good critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Skilled at using original thinking to translate goals into the implementation new ideas and design solutions.
