Job Description Summary
The Lead Tooling Engineer is to be located at the Vadodara, where focus is on equipment support, coordination, leading equipment related RCA's, managing FAT/SAT and installations, leading and tracking FMEA actions. Within the responsibilities of the role on site is, but not limited to, ensuring that line equipment is performing and any downtime is mitigated, new equipment on site is setup as per specification and technical EHS demands are followed.
As part of a global Tooling team, the role will include leading global Tooling projects to develop, deliver and optimize equipment and technology for the manufacture of wind turbine blades. The role may also include supporting of other plants globally that may need technical supportJob Description
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Act as the technical lead on tooling projects
  • Bring expertise in supporting major industrial manufacturing equipment, to ensure suitable development and utilization of equipment and technology to improve manufacturing
  • Responsible for assisting in setting up best practices, standard procedures, specifications and processes that enable Tooling to deliver equipment to the highest level in an agile environment, ensuring (but not limited to) Cost-Out, EHS and compliance demands.
  • Execute tooling and equipment design project following the project manual as per stage gate model
  • Liaison with PM for reporting and execution
  • Take cradle to grave ownership of tool as per the tooling matrix for the function
  • Include project execution, FAT, SAT and other technical dossier creation to enable plug and play experience for manufacturing plants.
  • Follow machine directive for design
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products
  • Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
  • Basic understanding of key business drivers uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.

Required Qualifications
  • Master or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • 8+ years with practical & hands-on experience related to blade manufacturing equipment design/development and support, including a proven track record of supporting operations

Knowledge and Skills
  • Robust knowledge of key concepts of automation, blade manufacturing equipment, industrialization, risk assessment, CE directive
  • English spoken and written
  • Mobilize local supplier for onsite support and new development whenever needed
  • Project management expertise is advantages
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic area is desirable
  • Beneficial:
  • Expertise in Epoxy, Polyester and Vinyl ester resin systems
  • Programming (Ladder logic PLC, robotic and automotive equipment) is advantage, Knowledge in dispense machines (Glue machines, direct infusion, degassers)
  • Expertise on Pultrusion and composite processing systems
