Roles and Responsibilities
The CNC Sr Engineer serves as a technical leader for the organization in the development, execution and implementation of manufacturing processes, products and services.
Essential Job Functions:
- Determines correct process design concepts and selects best fundamental technologies for both developing new products and improving or modifying existing ones.
- Analyzes engineering drawings, material requirements, and process specifications.
- Responsible for programming and machining function within the organization and at supplier places.
- Manages technicians and machine operators in the design, development and implementation of machine tool programs, test methods, tooling, manufacturing methods, and manufacturing documentation.
- Solves problems, implements changes and continuously monitors progress.
- Considers Lean manufacturing methodologies for manufacturing processes and shop floor transactions.
- Works directly with manufacturing and quality engineers in the design transfer and operations readiness of new products and manufacturing processes.
- Maintains compliance to all local and Regulatory agencies including but not limited to ISO and OSHA.
- Must be experienced with tolerance analysis, machining, tooling, production fixtures, metals processing, metals finishing, metrology.
- Hands on Experience on CNC turning centers, Machining centers (both HMC&VMC), Grinders and acquainted CNC systems like Siemens, Fanuc, etc. Individually capable enough to set the machines and prove the components for the quality and cycle time.
- Tool planning, process planning , Cycle time estimation, best cutting tools selection for precision engineering drawings.
- Process capability evaluation
- Machining cost estimation, MHR etc..
- Basic knowledge about the Machines like, machining ac curacies, metal removal rates, power and torque requirements for the proposed operations.
- Good knowledge on Work holdings(Hydraulic and Pneumatic fixtures), Tooling for turning, Milling, Drilling and other precision Engineering activities.
- Auto Cad knowledge--- simple fixture elements design.
- Trouble shooting skill on the processes, toolings and Workholding.
- CNC programming skill for CNC systems like Fanuc, Siemens etc.
Must have:
-BE Mechanical Degree-- highly preferred
-5+ years of experience
-CAD experience- any kind... CAD CAM, MASTER CAM... any CAM program
- Significant programming and set-up experience for Turning center, Turnmill center, 3-5 axis MILLS
-Must have a great understanding of how parts are made/manufactured
-Documentation Skills- will be creating work instructions for operators, process sheet preparation,
Required Skills for CNC Sr.Engineer Job:
GDT METHODOLOGY
For the estimation of machining times & proposal workwout, 2D or 3D
CNC part programming for Turning/ Milling and SET-UP
Selection of tools and holders
Process capability evaluation(Cp/Cpk)
Use of the correct measuring instruments.
Trouble shooting.
Using of the tool pre-setters
Data communication between machine and the PC
Essential knowledge of the Cutting parameters like Speed/feed/Depth of cut etc..
