"Cambridge University Press (a global publishing company based in the UK) has recently set up India Operations Centre ( IOC ) at Tech Mahindra's facility in Hyderabad. The staff based in the IOC work as integrated members of global teams that develop and publish (both in print and digital formats), a wide variety of English Language Teaching ( ELT ) and Education materials along with Academic books and journals. A wide range of roles (spanning Editorial, Production, Marketing and Supply Chain Fulfillment) are being created and we are currently seeking suitably qualified and experienced team members from publishing as well as non-publishing backgrounds. "
SUMMARY:


The Supplier Lead at India Operations Centre, Hyderabad is responsible and accountable for the support provided to Global Production and non-Production staff, predominantly in relation to India-based suppliers. The Supplier Lead is also accountable as the first line support for India-based vendor issues and challenges that arise from the global project portfolio. The role holder will manage the relationships with India-based suppliers, manage their performance and ensure that they are fulfilling the project teams expectations. This role will also support the Global Supplier Manager with a range of tasks relating to global suppliers and in supporting global Product Management colleagues.



Principal Accountabilities:


  • External onshore relationships - Be accountable for maintaining day-to-day relationships with India-based suppliers. 
  • Support - Support and take direction from the Global Supplier Manager for all Supplier Management related accountabilities, this could include non-India-based supplier activities such as coordinating quarterly supplier reviews, financial report extraction etc.
  • Issue mitigation and resolution - Will be accountable for the resolution of India-based supplier issues using the most appropriate means in consultation with the Global Supplier Manager. The role holder will also keep relevant parties up to date with issue mitigation and review initiatives that are agreed and implemented these will predominantly be Production staff but could also include other project stakeholders. The role holder will need to show flexibility and have a willingness to travel to India-based suppliers, often at short notice, in consultation with the Global Supplier Manager.
  • Onshore Supplier Development - Following direction from the Global Supplier Manager, maintain and develop the relationships with preferred and approved India-based suppliers through the outcomes of quarterly review meetings, referencing key performance indicators associated with the master service agreements and at project level.
  • Reporting - Report monthly to the Global Supplier Manager on Supplier work in progress (for example financial spend/trends), issues and resolutions. Use this information to inform future metrics, continuous improvement and ways of working.
  • Capacity - Advise the Global Supplier Manager, Superiors and Senior Management of India-based supplier capacity and detailed monthly reports which reflect historic, current and future capacity/trends (with commentary where possible)
  • Supplier Development - Research, engage and develop India-based suppliers who are not currently under contract with Cambridge University Press and collate information on potential tools and services offered for presentation to superiors within the business.
  • Contract Management - Work closely with Legal, to ensure adherence to Press Procurement, Due Diligence and Compliance procedures.
  • Processes & Training - Works with the Delivery Planning and Set-up Team to define and implement processes, training and workflows to support the project work introducing efficiencies as and where applicable.

Required Candidate profile

Experience & Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience of managing stakeholder expectations in relation to external suppliers
  • Familiarity and confidence with MS Office suite. 
  • 4 years direct work experience in publishing environment. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project schedules and/or a willingness to learn.
  • Some experience or exposure of contractual management in terms of service agreements for major suppliers and freelancers

Skills & Knowledge


  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills, including technical language.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to understand communication from team members and suppliers who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines and with a variety of communication styles.
  • Adept at conducting analysis of project-related supplier issues.
  • Familiarity and confidence with MS Office suite.
  • Good understanding of the publishing industry.
