Job Description Summary
The Lead Commodity Specialist Labor and Professional Services is responsible for leading and executing strategic sourcing activities for the Labor and Professional Services spend with the goal of achieving significant initial cost reductions and year-over-year continuous improvement while maintaining or improving product quality and supplier service levels. This includes working with the Global Category Leader and regional peers to develop strategies to reduce total cost of ownership - including vendor management, demand management, and governance/compliance. The Lead Commodity Specialist will partner with GE functional stakeholders in Business Sourcing, HR, Finance, Legal, Corporate to identify sourcing needs, determine vendor and demand management strategies, execute sourcing events, and drive organizational processes and compliance.Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for the Labor and Professional Services spend category
- Drive annual productivity improvements in applicable spend subcategories
- Execute end-to-end Sourcing process: strategy, market analysis, negotiation process (RFXs), supplier selection and contract creation, and buy channel management
- Track performance within each applicable spend category and define budgetary impact
- Monitor strategy implementation and contract compliance
- Drive best practices
- Leading cross-functional teams to develop and implement category strategies
- Drive value through supplier relationship management
- Uphold internal and external policies, regulations and laws
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 8 years experience in Sourcing, Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial, or equivalent consulting experience
Recommended Qualifications:
- MBA or Bachelor's degree in Sourcing, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or Engineering
- Sourcing experience in a multinational company
- Collaborative mindset in working across functional areas
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills (spend analytics, should-cost analysis, market R&I)
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
- Demonstrated negotiations skills
- Aggressive self-starter
- Strong project management skills
- Experience with RFQ implementation and execution
- Working knowledge of ERP/ SSS systems
- History with supply base consolidation
