Job Description Summary
As an Aerodynamics & Acoustics engineer you will join a team of highly qualified, experienced, and passionate technologists who develop innovative solutions to convert Wind into mechanical energy more efficiently & silently.
You will report to the Aerodynamics & Acoustics NTI (New Technology Introduction) manger, being an integral part of the Front End Engineering department of LM Wind Power, a GE Renewable business.
This role offers a great opportunity to contribute to deliver reliable, high performance and cost-competitive wind turbines blades to GE and third-party OEMs all over the world.Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of new aerodynamics and acoustic technologies, and their integration into the wind turbine blade product.
  • Develop, maintain, and simplify the Aerodynamic & Acoustics design tool suite.
  • Develop new and improve accuracy and cycle time of modelling & simulation tools (1D, 2D and CFD), reducing NPI cycle time.
  • Support Blade NPI (new product introduction) throughout all different design phases.
  • Contribute to the design of airfoils and blade add-on devices meeting performance, noise and loads / aero elastic stability requirements.
  • Support blade manufacturing plants in ensuring that production blades meet aero and acoustics quality requirements.
  • Participate in wind tunnel and field measurement campaigns.
  • Prepare technical reporting and presentations for internal and external purpose, including design reviews and customer meetings.

Required Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in Physics, Mathematics, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Understanding of numerical modelling and simulation tools for wind turbines or other complex industrial applications (turbomachinery, aerospace).
  • Good programming skills (e.g. C, C++, Python, Matlab, etc)
  • Knowledge in wind turbine aerodynamics and aero acoustics.
  • Exposure to testing & validation methods (wind tunnel, field testing).
  • Effective time management and rigorous organization of work.
  • Good communication, open mindset and ability to work with multi-cultural and distributed teams.

Desired Characteristics
  • Work experience in relevant industry / business (e.g. wind, aerospace, turbomachinery, automotive)
  • Hands-on experience in CFD (computational fluid dynamics)
  • Hands-on experience in aero-elastic simulations tools (e.g. Hawc2, Simpack, Flex5, Bladed, etc.)
  • Interest in HPC (high performance computing) and numerical methods
