Job Description Summary
The Lead Generator Design Engineer is part of the Onshore Wind product design process and key for successful, high quality New Product Introduction (NPI), customer fulfillment and issue resolution.
In this role you will have full component ownership for Wind Turbine main generators, including requirements definition, partnering with generator developers and suppliers, interface clarification with other component owners, performance/capability requirements definition and assessment, testing, etc.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Lead the execution of Engineering design work on wind turbine main generators, their testing, validation as well as implementation into the wind turbine electrical system and into the machine head.
  • Full component ownership for specific generator models. Drive the definition of characteristics/requirements, technical clarification and design partnership with suppliers, interface definition, prototyping, testing, introduction into manufacturing and field issue resolution.
  • Definition and control of complete technical documentation, including specifications, bills of material, drawings, 3D-models, and schematics.
  • Ensure compliance of components and their use to international codes and standards.
  • Support global and cross-functional teams to leverage Best Practice for electrical testing and validation procedures.
  • Preparation of design / analysis documentation, e.g. Design Practices, design record book articles, Work Desk Instructions (WDI), etc.
  • Support Sourcing organization for new supplier qualification and supplier audits. Understand the cost and cost driving parameters of the generator. Support should-cost investigations.
  • Support root cause analysis on technical issues.
  • Partnership with the Technical Leaders and leading global team members to ensure high quality and on-time delivery for all engineering assignments.

Required Qualifications
  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with electrical rotating machines design, applications and/or practices.
  • Knowledge in international codes and standards, related to rotating machines and their applications.
  • Positive mindset with good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to pull together global teams across functions to drive consensus and decisions.
  • Strong Program Management skills, experience and attitude.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Availability to travel up to 15% of the time.
