AI Platform Developer The Cloud Management Business Unit at VMware creates industry leading solutions for public, private and hybrid clouds. The troubleshooting, monitoring and management capabilities provided by our software has made us an integral part of customer's cross-cloud journey. Through machine learning and data analytics, we hope to provide our customers self-managing data centers across clouds. High volume metrics, configurations, events and logs provide a rich data set for learning behavioural pattern across compute, storage, networks and applications. Our team is building 'Microservices and Cloud Native Distributed streaming and database systems' for enabling machine learning applications to optimize and protect customer virtual environments. We partner with our ML specialists and product/service teams to deliver AI applications that solve customer problems in real time. The projects in our portfolio take ideas from inception to production and allow you to experience the full development lifecycle. Gather, upload and serve the data that feeds real-time machine learning applications Grow a variety of scalable data storage and query systems for serving data types such as graph, time series, logs and events Build user interfaces to show users the inner workings of advanced ML algorithms and allow them to build trust Required skills: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field. Minimum 8 years of hands-on software development experience, with emphasis on cloud/back-end applications serving end-users. Proficient in Java programming and modern paradigms. Demonstrable experience designing scalable and highly available distributed systems. Experience with REST API design and implementation. Quality focus: Hands-on experience writing high coverage unit and integration tests. Experience in building observability and self-monitoring constructs. Strong sense of ownership and a buck stops here mentality. Prior experience working in geographically dispersed teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills. Ability and willingness to participate in on-duty rotations and 2nd tier product support. Preferred skills: Experience with large-scale, data-intensive, customer-facing cloud/SaaS or distributed systems software. Exposure to ML basics. Knowledge or experience with VMware products and technologies is highly desirable.
