Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The resource shall be responsible for assisting the EHS Team in maintaining and monitoring the EHS management system by:

  • Assist the team in maintenance of documentation for EHS management system
  • Coordinating with the site coordinators for collection of EHS monthly reports and data and shall support preparation of MIS
  • Coordinating with Government Authorities during site visits and for renewal of permits
  • Ensure timely submissions of statutory reports to KSPCB, Electrical Inspector, DDs etc
  • Conduct safety induction and site orientation to contractors, visitors, suppliers, to ensure that they understand and have agreed to comply with Qualcomm EHS policies.
  • Conduct safety walkthroughs and inspections and identify hazards or unsafe acts conditions, advise and assist the concerned team member to resolve or rectify noted deficiencies thru communication with the responsible discipline or personnel. Follow up and monitor the rectification of noted safety deficiencies to prevent recurrence.
  • Carrying out health checks of the fire protection equipment (Fire Extinguishers, fire hydrant system and fire alarms)
  • Reviewing first aid boxes, AED and other emergency equipment on a monthly basis and plan for refilling/replacement as necessary
  • Manage the personal protective equipment inventory
  • Assist in organizing training programs and awareness campaigns
  • Support the waste management program at the site
  • Support the ERT and Ergonomics program
  • Manage the ergonomic equipment distribution
  • Track the EHS budget expenses and timely submission of invoices related to all EHS expenses
  • Coordinate with third party agencies for environmental/workplace monitoring and review the reports
  • Plan for procurement of EHS consumables as necessary

Qualification:

  • Education: Must possess a recognized degree/diploma in Environmental / Safety Engineering or equivalent engineering stream or diploma in industrial safety/industrial hygiene
  • Experience: Employers seek Engineer (7-8) years of experience in a manufacturing / construction / service industry plant EHS coordination level Safety; familiarity with accident investigation and prevention; applied ergonomics expertise, and in-depth understanding of Indian regulations. It is also vital that they have a good understanding of root cause analysis for investigation of incidents. Prior experience in construction project sites will be an added advantage.
  • Team building/relationship building skills: The EHS Engineer must have people skills to establish relationships with people at working levels in the organization.
  • Communication skills: The EHS engineer also needs good communication skills to successfully conduct trainings, facilitate meetings with site coordinators, update people on safety-related issues, and provide relevant reports
  • Computer skills: He/she also require proficient computer skills, especially in applications such as Excel, databases, Word, and web-based systems.
