This includes new database builds, support, engineering, deploying schema changes to production databases while maintaining DB availability targets, implementing security policies, managing PP development databases, working on various NoSQL implementations and scripting to automate. We are looking for an exceptional Database engineer to join our team to help deliver for our business. Ideal candidate will enjoy various aspects of Database Administration and have opportunities to work with cutting edge technologies like Oracle, GoldenGate, Mongo, Cassandra, Aerospike and Couchbase. In addition, strong Shell, Perl, and Python scripting experience will be a big plus.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in Oracle & Nosql Database Administration building and managing highly scalable, highly available, and performant systems.
- Deliver various DB changes to PayPal's mission critical production databases.
- Provide Database support and engineering for 24/7 environment.
- Partnering with peers in product development and other operational teams to enable business and deliver projects.
- Triage incidences and identify root causes
- Expert in Golden Gate
- Experience with one more cloud technology
- Experience in deploying the database in any one of Cloud technologies
- Strive to achieve PayPal s availability goals
- SQL Programing/review/tuning and suggest areas of improvements
- Able to gel with a large team of DBAs, Operations groups, Capacity, and ETL team and willing to share knowledge
- Provide quality customer satisfaction
- Follow change management and security guidelines and execute critical change requests
- Shell, Perl, Ansible, and/or Python to deliver on automation
- Good to have experience in Mongo, Couchbase or Mysql
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to document and enhance process oriented approach.
- Must be able to Multi-task and prioritize without much supervision
