Job Description: Systems Architect
looking for a passionate and self-directed Systems Architect within its Mobile Networking division to specify and drive development of virtualized mobile core products based on its innovative software platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong skillset and aptitude in transforming traditional telecom/IP networking products and applications to use NFV and SDN principles and passion for influencing development for a disruptive product and solution in a competitive marketplace.
The Systems Architect will be expected to innovate and think out of the box on a regular basis leveraging an innovative virtualized platform for telco applications, enhanced with Brocade intellectual property at the intersection of virtualization, mobile networking, and data analytics.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform technical evaluations of major system enhancements driven by new requirements from 3GPP standards, customers, partners, NFV and SDN ecosystems.
- Define the overall architecture and detailed functional description of the solution for requested enhancements with focus on deployment in virtualized/cloud environments and integration with adjacent networking nodes in a mobile network.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant emerging technologies in IP Networking, NFV, SDN areas and perform detailed analysis of market trends to support the company in Product Management and product/solution strategies
- Monitor standards body activities to and participate (if necessary) to influence the industry with innovative vision of the company
- Analyze competitor offerings and identify opportunities for innovation and market disruption.
- Provide active support for, product management, pre-sales and marketing activities including technical solutions support in the RFI/RFP response.
- Provide system level technical support in customer meetings
- Work closely with engineering and QA teams to drive the timely and quality release of new products and features
- Provide guidance and leadership to junior members of the team
Desired Candidate Profile
- Expert understanding of IP networking concepts (L3-L7)
- In-depth knowledge of IP based protocols like IPSec, GTP, GRE, L2TP, IP routing protocols (OSPFv2/v3, BGP, ISIS, RIP) and their deployments
- Good understanding on mobile networks, especially on 3GPP 3G and LTE standards in core network. Strong and recent experience implementing or architecting mobile network products focused on data plane (SGW, PGW, SGi LAN etc)
- Exposure and Experience with transformative trends enabling virtualization of data plane applications NFV, SDN, DPDK, SR-IoV, vSwitch etc
- Sound understanding of essential elements of Systems engineering including how to convey requirements to development and QA teams
- Excellent inter-personal, verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent presentation skills for a variety of audiences including executives, partners, and customers.
- Ability to quickly grasp and adapt to new technologies and concepts.
- May need to travel occasionally.
Qualification:
- BS Degree in EE or CS. MS Degree highly desirable
- At least 10+ years experience in telecommunication industry in product development, systems engineering or architecture roles
