Job Description
Job Summary: We are seeking an innovative technologist to analyze and support technology services across the Invesco Performance Attribution and Analytics Line of Business and to help execute the Technology strategy. This position will be responsible for developing and contributing to solutions, sometimes industry-leading, during all phases of the software development lifecycle with an Agile and DevOps approach. In addition, you will be communicating and collaborating with colleagues and investment professionals globally to implement solutions that combine technological advancements with business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
Able to do all tasks related to technical analysis, business analysis, quality assurance, system test, and implementation in accordance with the IT development life cycle.
Review, discuss and work within agreed timescales and feedback to project managers any variances arising as tasks are performed.
Understand client business and make recommendations and technology suggestions to solve problems and improve efficiency.
Understand architecture of applications in order to effectively troubleshoot problems and develop more efficient production processes.
Be prepared to carry out business analysis tasks to ensure that the development/change meets user requirements and expectations.
Prepare for and support user acceptance testing.
Prepare all necessary documentation and processes to enable ongoing support of the systems.
Analyze, resolve, and document issues related to production applications and processes.
Communicate with internal and external customers, supervisors and management using clear, user-friendly terminology (emails, phone, meetings).
Assist project and line managers in producing estimates for projects and enhancements.
Participate in Business Recovery events
Formal Education:
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems/ Computer Science is preferred or commensurate relevant work experience
Work Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of proven systems development or analysis experience using structured methods
Understanding of relational database design and development life cycle principles
Solid experience of working in project teams
Adaptabie to new tools and technology advancements
A major plus if the candidate has experience working in the financial sector
Knowledge/ Abilities:
Enjoy challenging and thought provoking work and have a strong desire to learn and progress (motivated enough to self-learn)
Must be able to communicate with business clients at all levels in competent and effective manner.
Excellent verbal and written skills
Must have good organization and planning skills - capable of managing own workload
Be able to work under pressure and multi-task while remaining professional and courteous
Exceptional ability to analyze requirements / problems and to propose innovative but workable solutions
Must demonstrate a positive, team-focused attitude (i.e. Open minded, flexible, and willing to listen for other people's opinions)
Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate over the phone and via email with a variety of individuals at all technical levels are required.
Must be adaptable, large variety of assignments will lead to working on different layers of application from project-to-project.
Able to work in a global, multicultural environment
Experience with Agile will be considered plus.
Technical Skills Required:
Analyst (primary skill set for a team member)
Experience working in an Information Technology environment as an analyst, business analyst preferred
Experience working in the financial services industry, preferred
Experience with vendor and bespoke applications
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Experience with querying SQL Server and/or Oracle.
Knowledge of SDLC
Experience working in agile environments is a plus
Experience with Python is a plus
