JOB DESCRIPTION FOR ENGINEERING MANAGERThis Company is an export-oriented manufacturer of high-volume engineering components for Mechanical, Electrical & Automotive Sectors catering to Global/Overseas Clients. They specialize in development and production of Automotive, Electrical & Industrial components & assemblies as per clients Drawings & Specifications.
JOB DESCRIPTION - (Stage Wise, Step by Step Workflow)
General Engineering Skills, Awareness and Use of various International Standards
1)Openness and flair to work on and acquire in-depth knowledge on various common engineering practices and international standards to apply in Development & Manufacturing of Products & Components.
2)Street smart on Trouble-shooting during Online Production to get the desired quality output, may it be Tool correction, Process modification/alteration, defining validating output parameters or designing gauging/acceptance devices etc.
3)Basic R& D and ability to do Reverse Engineering
4)In-Depth Ability to use AutoCAD & 3D Software
5)Knowledge of MS-Office especially Excel to calculate Engineering Formulas.
6)Knowledge & Implementation of Standards on various Allowances and Tolerances for the above processes.
7)Knowledge of ISO 9000 Systems
8)Awareness and Use of International Standards regarding.
a)Material Type,
b)Standards on various Processes like
i.Machining,
ii.Sheet Metal working
iii.Cold and Hot Forging
iv.Castings etc.
v.Fabricated & Welded Components
vi.Other Product Lines as described on our website as mentioned
9)In Depth Expression abelites & command on Written Language to.
a.Describe & communicate the techno-commercial matters with clients.
b.Describe our various Engineering phenomena on Product & Component Development, upgradations of processes etc. for marketing write-ups like blogs & others.
Stage 1 : Technical Study & Evaluation on receipt of Request for Quotes from Foreign Clients
1)Receive Drawings and Specifications.
2)Understand every minute detail.
3)Check for any errors, impracticalities and propose corrections. (For e.g. Incorrect views, impractical tolerances etc.)
4)Technical Correspondence with the Client to Stream line the above issues
5)Design the process layout Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) with required CTQ & CTP parameters.
6)Design quality plans, in-process and final inspection.
7)Decide and Design Gauges and other such online & offline QC devices as required.
8)Theoretical weight calculation based on geometry. (For material costing)
9)Any other visionary engineering outlook needed to handle the project right from RM procurement to final delivery and packing.
Stage 2 : Vendor Development, Coordination & Cost Evaluation (General Knowledge required)
1)Vendor Evaluation to handle our Job, based on their infrastructure and Quality procedures
2)Access vendors and send request for quotes to suitable ones
3)On receipt of vendors proposal, the candidate should be able to evaluate its feasibility for executable manufacturing.
4)Knowledge of Tools and Fixture design to access tooling requirements and coordinate with vendors to ensure that the vendors tool design will serve the purpose.
5)Decide and Design Gauges and other such online & offline QC devices as required.
6)Estimation of Tool, fixtures and Gauges costs.
7)Finalize approximate cost that can be communicated to the client.
8)Estimate the cost based on different processes. (Optional)
9)Estimate cycle time (Man hrs. and machine hrs.) based on estimated feeds and speeds, and co-relate to the same to the approximate costs
Stage 3 : Product Development , Mass Production & Quality Control
1)Good Knowledge of processes in the following manufacturing categories to educate and get quality work done from vendors:
i.Precision Machining
ii.Sheet Metal Forming and Press Working
iii.Fabricated & welded Components
iv.Forgings and Stamping (Open, Closed, Upset, etc.)
v.Casting (Sand, Die Cast, Investment, etc.
vi.Springs and Wire Forming
vii.Other Product Lines as described on our website
2)Street smart on Trouble-shooting during Online Production to get the desired quality output , may it be Tool correction, Process modification/alteration ,defining validating output parameters or designing gauging/acceptance devices etc.
3)Samples stage (samples done by vendors)
a)Negotiate & Approve the Tool Design as done by the vendor based on our plans
b)To ensure on site that the vendors follow the laid down procedure (Procedures to be agreed jointly)
c)To inspect and document all dimensions as per quality plans.
d)To pinpoint defects, trace the cause and suggest remedies.
e)Finalize the process plans.
4)Production stage.
a)Ensure correct material procurement.
b)Ensure all required test certificates are received, found OK and filed.
c)Ensure laid down procedures and SOPs are followed
d)Ensure 1st piece inspection is done and approved
e)Ensure patrol inspection is done at regular intervals.
f)Use of SPC techniques to ensure quality norms.
g)Prepare the Final Inspection Report based on statistical standards (SQC)
Stage 4: Post Production , Shipment & After Sales
1)Packaging.
a)Uniform cartons are placed into wooden boxes of weight such that can be handled by a single person (about approx. 30 Kgs.)
b)Calculations to be done to find the number of cartons that will be fitted most efficiently (considering space) into the least volume box.
2)Answering technical queries of the client
3)In case of receipt of NCR & rejections from clients, investigation of the failure mode & suggesting remedies & permanent solutions along with generation of CAPA Reports.
4)Justifying Technical rejections, especially if the same is due to faults other than ours. (e.g. Client may use wrong inspection methods, wrong gauging, etc.)
Production Sites : All our production is done at our vendors sites majorly located at Central Suburbs & Thane and a few of our vendors are Located at Vasai and outskirts of Mumbai.
If you have experience in the following : ( important , may add a tickmark in front of all positive )
- Product & Component Level Development & Manufacturing including Mass Production
- Experience in AutoCAD & and have SOLIDWORKS knowledge
- knowledge about Algebraic & Mathematical formulas, including knowledge in MS Excel
- abilities to reading & decode a Product drawing including knowledge of GD&T
- Can handleVernier, Micrometre, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge , and other such standard equipment
- Can handleinternational Engineering Standards like ASTM,EN DIN, JIS, ISI etc
- Have Knowledge ofEngineering Practices & Documentation like Control Plan , SOP, PPAP, SQC/SPC
- Tool making knowledge including tool, Dies , jigs ,fixtures & gauges used in the above Processes
- Knowledge of Processes like
b.Sheet Metal working & Press Tools
c.Cold and Hot Forging
d.Castings
e.Fabricated Components
- Have a BE Mechanical Degree
- Can handle Techno Commercial matters and evaluate and send RFQs
- Good Interpersonal Skills and Communication Skills
