The Architect is responsible for driving the architecture and design for Cvents large-scale, Internet-based applications. The Architect will work as a leading member of the Product Development team and, more specifically, the Architecture team to support and enhance the application architecture and the framework. The Architect will frequently be tasked with researching new tools and technologies and asked to come up with recommendations on how they can be used in Cvent applications. The Architect will also be expected to actively participate in design and implementation of projects featuring a high degree of technical complexity and/or scalability and performance implications.
Position Duties
Specification, design, development, and debugging of large Internet scale and high-performance service-based web applications and frameworks
Create re-usable frameworks through hands-on development and unit-testing
Document technical designs using flow charts, class diagrams, sequence diagrams, activity diagrams, data flow diagrams, database schemas, descriptive software component documentation, and wireframes
Help guide the technology directions by recommending specific technologies to pursue, suggesting training and staff development activities, and monitoring the Cvent Paved Road
Keep an eye on any increase technical debt and propose remedies and code refactoring
Work closely with the implementation teams of the various product lines to ensure that architectural standards and best practices are being followed consistently across all Cvent applications
Contribute to tools that help increase developer productivity through automation
Stakeholder management with an ability to gain others support for ideas, proposals, projects, and solutions
Required Candidate profile
Bachelors degree required; Masters Degree preferred. Desired majors include Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc.
10+ years of hands-on experience in some of the following: Java, MVC, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, jQuery, Web Services and API development using REST or SOAP, Windows 2003/2008/7 server, IIS 7.0, Linux
At least 3 years of experience in Design and implementation of Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD) and Tools Migration and consolidation using one or more of the DevOps tools/technologies.
Experience with one or more of the following databases: SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Couchbase, Redis, Elastic Search or other NoSQL technologies
Ability to accurately estimate software development tasks given a set of requirements and assumptions; ability to work with Project Managers to develop task-level project plans and proposals
Ability to develop secure solutions and knowledge of industry best practices regarding information security and defensive development
Understanding of deployment architecture and infrastructure in both on-prem and cloud hosting environments
Excellent oral and written communication with an ability to articulate complex systems to external teams (sales, product, external vendors)
Self-motivation and the ability to work under minimal supervision
Strong understanding of cross-browser compatibility and limitation issues
