Project Leader - Kolkata - Canam Consultants

Project Planning/ Detailing management:

• Study design input and incorporate in project or detailing or modelling.

• Understand project scope.

• Based on the analysis of the type of the project, provide inputs on project methodology to the supervisor.

• Consolidate inputs from detailers on activities/tasks, task level estimates, schedule, dependencies, risks and checking strategy etc.

• List out the challenges, dependencies, assumptions and timelines required for the project under guidance and share it with supervisor.

• Analyze in detail resources required for every phase, conduct estimation of time utilization of different resources and activities, prepare resource and development plan or provide inputs and review with supervisor.

• Participate in client calls and seek clarifications if any.

• Provide support for development of Team and whole unit as well

Checking Management:

• Check if peer review is completed at each step of test execution.

• Monitor defects raised and closed.

• Conduct root cause analysis to avoid repetition of defects.

• Follow up with team assigned for rework on defects and close the same.

• Check that all action items mentioned in the deployment checklist have been completed.

People Management:

• Provide assistance in selection of representative employee groups for training.

• Conduct training or knowledge sharing sessions.

• Mentor team members in project teams with respect to tools and domain skills on projects.

• Coordinate with the Coordinators in understanding how the employee can better contribute to the project, seek feedback and address concerns.

• Civil/mechanical diploma.

• 12 years of direct experience in a relevant field.

• Technical Exposure: Tekla, Auto CAD.

• Must have clear demonstration of Steel Detailing domain expertise, understanding of the clients business issues and provide insightful solution options to clients that lead to revenue opportunities.

• Global mobility and the ability to work with clients spread across geographies.

• Comprehensive understanding of regional industry specific projects and clients across US and Canada.

• Extensive experience in optimizing existing engineering workflows to improve productivity.

• Good English communication skill. Effective leader and motivator. Self-assured and confident.

• Must have highly developed oral and written communication skills. Must be proficient with the technical tools.

• Client communication and team management. Project management skills.

Technical Expertise:

• Minimum of 7 years of detailing experience in North American Standard (AISC).

• Good knowledge of Tekla (minimum 5 years).

• Ability to achieve complexity level drawings and connections.

• Experience leading a project with a group of 5 6 people.

• Ability to train and teach methods and processes to less experienced drafter.
