Principal Engineer Projects @ Collins Aerospace

Basic Qualification

• BE / B-Tech / ME / M-Tech or equivalent degree with experience in Product and Project Development (Electronics Products/Projects)
• 12 to 14 year overall experience with at least 4 to 5 years of project management experience preferably in safety critical systems like Aerospace / Automotive / Healthcare / Rail domain
• Hands on experience in software and hardware Product development Life cycle
• Familiarity with Aerospace (DO178/DO254/DO160) or Automotive design standards and techniques
• Experience working and collaborating with manufacturing and operations team would be a plus
• Should have hands-on experience on proposal preparation and submission
• Should be well versed with hands on key project management areas like Risk Management, procurement, Scope Stakeholder management
• Responsible for Earned value metrics to program office and other stakeholders
• Should have experience working with cross functional teams and disciplines
• Proficient in MS Project Professional or Similar tools including resource loading and critical path analysis
• Knowledge on any product life cycle management tools
• PMP / Agile Certification preferred
• This will be an individual contributor role to influence project team to achieve project goals

Job Description Summary

• Manages medium to Large projects with minimal guidance from Program/Project engineering group.
• Responsible for developing the project plan, project schedule, resource plan and project budget with the project team
• Responsible for tracking recurring and non-recurring costs, including product and project cost.
• Responsible for ensuring scope change is identified, documented and communicated to the project stakeholders
• Performing critical path analysis and utilizing earned value management
• Tracking and monitoring project milestones
• Responsible for tracking engineering metrics like On-time delivery, Quality, etc.
• Deploying Project Management methods and procedures to ensure adherence to lay down PM practices
• Coordinating with supply chain/sourcing/purchase department for prototype development and testing/certification
• Leading project reviews with Management/Counterparts in USA/Other Countries
• Identifying Risk triggers and applying Risk Management practices to mitigate/avoid project Risks.
