Job Description

Collins Aerospace is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented, and results driven Mechanical/Materials Engineer for Engineering/Technology Leadership role. He will be a key contributor in creating New Technology and Product while working closely with the various RD, Design centers and Manufacturing sites within Avionics Sensors Business. .

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership role - Product Development, Production Support, and Failure Investigation
  • Working individually and with teams on Mechanical Design, Materials, Manufacturing of Thermocouple, and Engine High Temperature Sensors.
  • Review Requirements, Materials, Design documents/artifacts and Test Reports. And support global NPD Program Reviews/ Phase Gate Design Review
  • Analyze and research materials , and their related fabrication / application processes for High Temperature Sensors / Products.
  • Applies principles of material behavior, characteristics for selection / application of metallic, non-metallic material and processing specifications.
  • Investigate and Review Materials Analysis Test results, Drive suitable actions for continuous improvement
  • Support Manufacturing for Product Build, Quality, RCCA , MRB and provide Review Disposition /Approval
  • Make independent decision and facilitate quality decision while working with cross function global team/s
  • Lead Problem solving and provide robust solutions to product design and quality issues/challenges
  • Consistently upgrade knowledge on technology advancements and make new development proposal
  • Mentor and guide engineers to build organization capability.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors/Masters (BE/BTECH or ME/ M Tech) Degree in Mechanical / Materials Engineering
  • 12-15 Years of experience from Aerospace/Automotive/Medical Equipment industry.
  • Proven Track record in Mechanical design and/or material investigation of Thermocouple/ Temperature Sensors or Similar High temperature materials product.
  • Experience / Exposure to Manufacturing Process Controls , SPC/SQC , RCCA and Failure Investigation
  • Experience / Exposure to Product Acceptance Testing and Qualification Testing. FAI etc

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree/Ph.D in Materials Engineering
  • 3-5 Years experience in Technical/Engineering Lead role for Sensors Products/Technology
  • Experience in the full product life-cycle
  • Experience in Aerospace Products and understanding of RTCA DO 160 requirements Qualification
  • Design for Manufacturing Assembly (DFMA) , Design or Strength / Life / Reliability.
  • Understanding of material analysis techniques using SEM, CT Scan, X-Ray, RGA etc..
