Catastrophe model developer with focus on modelling of tropical cyclone rainfall in the North Atlantic Ocean. Responsible for developing a tropical cyclone rain model using peer-reviewed research, working closely with inland flood team to implement model output into a loss estimation platform, assistance of model submission process for regulatory approval in the US, assessment of climate change insurance loss impacts as well as accompanying perils such as wind and storm surge. This is a full-time position in Bangalore.

3. Tropical cyclone vulnerability wind, flood (as needed in cooperation with colleagues with engineering background)
4. Applied research in various topics related to tropical cyclone and loss impact
Role-specific Technical Skills and Knowledge (including any educational or degree requirements, years of prior work experience, etc.)
1. Background in Meteorology/ Oceanography/ Climate Science ideally with focus on tropical cyclones. PhD/ Master s degree with research experience (projects, published papers, etc.) is required.
2. Experience with tropical cyclone related rainfall research and modeling is a plus.
3. Reasonably skilled in programming with proficiency in at least one language (R, Python, MATLAB, etc.) to be able to process large data sets and conduct research. Ability to understand existing code in various programing languages. Basic skills in spatial data analysis using ArcGIS/QGIS or any other software.
4. Problem solving skills, critical thinking, collaborative attitude, willingness to learn.
