Software Engineering ManagerOverview
The Software Engineering Manager provides direction and guidance to an engineering team to design, implement and maintain our innovative software products. The successful candidate must be able to quickly learn the existing systems and components, and in tandem with their team will participate in extending them as the business grows, including developing new subsystems as well as expanding the current system with new components and modules. Successful candidate must have strong Java knowledge, experience working with server-side web application software for functionality across multiple browser platforms.
What you will do:
- Lead a team to design, develop and document software components using established practices and meeting timeline commitments.
- Manage all phases of the software development life cycle.
- Participate in defining product level architecture and be responsible for designing component level architecture.
- Contribute original ideas and architectural thinking.
- Take ownership of major features and components.
- Utilize test-driven development approach to deliver commercial quality code.
- Perform code and design reviews.
- Perform hands-on development and maintenance of software applications/components.
- Effectively grow, manage and lead a software engineering team.
- Function in an Agile development model.
- Local engineering team management, oversight, and development.
What you will bring:
- BA/BS in Computer Science or related field.
- 8+ years experience in commercial software development, including 3+ years management or other leadership experience.
- Proficiency in Java, Spring, Spring Data, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud frameworks
- Hands on knowledge and work experience in any RDBMS.
- Hands on knowledge and work experience in developing microservices.
- Hands on knowledge and work experience in Angular.
- Knowledge of AWS or any cloud-based platform is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of CI/CD is a plus.
- Experience leading teams both direct and indirect.
- Experience in analysing information or data and ability to identify trends.
- Strong written, analytical and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent Collaboration skills, project management skills.
- Interpersonal skills: Engaging communicator, strong collaboration, patience, and open minded.
