They are responsible for the operation, cleaning, and sterilisation of the dialysis machines. Dialysis Technicians give patients important medical, technical, social and emotional support and also provide vital information on patient conditions to doctors, and other medical staff.
Responsibilities & duties:
Assembling the dialysis machine and ensuring its proper performance.
Monitoring patients undergoing dialysis treatment.
Ensuring the usage of the dialysis machine is safe and secure.
Administering local anesthesia.
Talking patients through the dialysis process.
Monitoring and adjusting patient fluid removal rates as required.
Ensuring the sterilization of operating equipment before use.
Responding to emergency scenarios.
Understanding patient physical and emotional concerns.
Educating patients on health maintenance and care.
Developing operational training material for staff.
To keep the dialyzer and delivery system ready before the procedure starts.
Ensure that the area where the procedure has to be conducted is sterilized.
Explains the procedure to the patient and ensures that the patient is comfortable.
Obtain patient weight, vital signs and is responsible for beginning the dialysis procedure.
Observe the patient and monitor and record vital signs during the procedure.
Assess patient for any complications that might occur during the procedure and be ready to deal with emergencies.
Train, educate and provide the patient with the emotional support needed for self-care.
Dialysis techniques. Hands on training, Good Knowledge of Anatomy Physiology Active and enthusiastic, Communication skills.
Administers local anesthetics / drugs when required.
Responsible for the effective quality control of water used for dialysis.
Responsible for coordinating with anesthetist for pre-transplant investigations.
In case of breakdown of machine, to coordinate with the biomedical department and maintenance department.
Responsible to maintain and work as per SOPs of the department.
Responsible for the cleanliness of the department.
Responsible for the documentation in the department.
Qualification and skills
Diploma in Dialysis tech.
Accreditation from a dialysis technician program.
Suitable clinical experience.
Dedication to patient care.
Attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
