Emergency Medicine Doctors Within NHS England

Job Description

INTRODUCTION

Health Education England (HEE) supports the delivery of high-quality patient care through its role in educating, training and developing the health workforce.

HEE is an arms length body of the National Health Service (NHS). The NHS is a government-funded medical and health care service that entitles all United Kingdom (UK) residents to receive free at the point of use (or delivery) healthcare without being asked to pay the full cost of the service provided.

HEE, supported by the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) and the Society of Emergency Medicine India (SEMI), has re-launched the Emergency Medicine International Training (EMIT) Programme. This programme is aimed at recruiting International candidates with an Emergency Medicine background to complement our existing trainees, consultants and specialty doctors. Each post will be fully integrated within a specialty team in one of a number of Trusts within three Regions in England supporting the high-quality provision of patient care in Emergency Departments.

These posts will provide excellent training and service opportunities for doctors with varying career aspirations. The programme is fully endorsed by the RCEM and the SEMI to give international doctors established UK based training with a view to them taking these skills back to their home countries.

The EMIT Programme is the only UK Government approved international recruitment Programme for Doctors working within NHS hospitals across England. The Global Engagement (GE) Directorate, through the Department of Health and Social Care, is committed to ensuring ethical recruitment practices operate within the NHS by adhering to the UK Code of Practice (CoP) for international recruitment.

For more information on the EMIT Programme please cut and paste - https://www.hee.nhs.uk/our-work/ global-engagement/emergency- medicine-international-training- programme into your search engine and follow the links which will take you to the information document, application form and key Programme timelines.

The EMIT Programme will assist applicants with; General Medical Council (GMC) registration, visa application and a comprehensive programme of pastoral care, including cultural sensitivities via inductions prior to and on arrival within the UK. We are working with a number of NHS Trusts to offer placement opportunities, and we are eager to hear from Emergency Medicine professionals who would like to work in the NHS. The EMIT Programme aims to provide an opportunity to enhance and add to candidates existing skills whilst working within the NHS. The Programme is an Earn, Learn & Return scheme, with Doctors working on a tier 2 visa, sponsored by an NHS employer.
