Job Description

ADO full form in agriculture Agriculture Development Officer. ADOs (Agriculture Development Officers) are officers working in the agriculture department under the state governments. In most of the states of India, the post of ADO is a block-level agriculture officer post.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.1 In liaison with other project staff, develop an effective and coherent plan for the
agricultural components of SGVC

1.2 To ensure the effective and successful planning, budgeting, management and
implementation of agricultural development work in sub-county of Mwingi (1) and
Kitui sub county (1)

1.3 To build the capacity of the local communities to manage their agricultural resources
sustainably

1.4 To develop mutually beneficial partnerships with relevant government departments,
NGOs and other institutions involved in agricultural development work in the project
area.

1.5 To participate in the baseline assessment and analysis during the project initiation
phase and all other studies and documentation activities.

1.6 Jointly with the relevant staff to ensure timely and quality completion of all SGVC
agriculture activities including procurement and distribution of inputs.

1.7 To identify and support new farmer groups in site selection and establishment of
Farmer Field Schools in Kitui County in line with Farm Africa farmer model.

1.8 In collaboration with other SGVC team members, to identify suitable monitoring
indicators [both process and impact] for the agriculture components.

1.9 In liaison with KARI and the County extension services, to conduct trainings in crop
production and soil and water conservation for farmer groups in Kitui County.

1.10 To establish an umbrella farmer network; one in each of the sub counties

1.11 To support the BDO in strengthening the agri-business elements of the sorghum an

1.12 To provide information for Farm Africa quarterly reports and donor reports to the
Project Coordinator in the agreed format and according to organisational deadlines.

1.13 To participate actively in monthly and quarterly staff meetings.
