Job Description

About the Opportunity: GFI is implementing a long term (4 years) & large-scale research & implementation project in India that aims to bring sustainable agriculture to scale by identifying, evaluating, and promoting promising pathways for digitally supported agricultural advisory services that effectively and efficiently empower female and male smallholders to make informed decisions and sustainably increase their agricultural productivity, income, and climate resilience through the uptake of sustainable farming practices.


Job Summary: The main function of the Country Coordinator will be to support the smooth implementation of the project in India and the incumbent will be expected to lead the stakeholder management, donor communication, and coordinating with the operations and research teams at GFI. Some of the other responsibilities will include portfolio management, providing technical oversight, data management & analytics, relationship management, mentoring subordinates, knowledge management, and project documentation. This we are looking for a seasoned professional having knowledge of Agriculture and Agri value chain, digital advisory domain with experience and skill in executing projects on Digital Agriculture and Research.


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Use strategic thinking to translate ideas and concepts from research and/or practice/policy into concrete actions and plans, and anticipate long-term challenges and trends to develop appropriate strategies.
  • Keep up to date on relevant research, policy, and best practice related to FPO strengthening, digital & climate-smart agriculture, and suitable market linkages and facilitate learning and dissemination activities to create wider sector-level impact.
  • Develop detailed project plans with associated milestones and work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure goals are met using Project Management tools.
  • Create and manage budget and ensure all spending is within guidelines. Manage internal budget review process on a monthly basis and donor reporting.
  • Project Management Lead and manage large-scale programs within India.
  • Relationship Management Manage relationships and partnerships with stakeholders including donors, and state and central government institutions for policy discussions.
  • Manage field team to ensure Organizational objectives are met; educate and encourage team for skill up-gradation and track teams performance.
  • To connect with relevant State and central government institutions for policy dialogues.
  • Prepare reporting documentation and lead regular stakeholder discussions with partners, including but not limited to Monthly Updates and Quarterly Reports. Ensure partners are involved throughout the process to create shared ownership of deliverables.
  • Actively participate in internal Knowledge Exchange to share lessons learned and key findings of the project with external stakeholders (industry conferences, blogs, case studies, etc.)  and support other GF representatives in internal and external communication.

Required Education, Experience & Skills

  • 7 to 10 years of relevant professional experience including extensive field exposure. Experience/ exposure to Agriculture based projects (Agri advisory, digital and climate-smart agriculture, Agriculture extension and research), etc.
  • Bachelor/ Masters degree in agriculture or related disciplines. MBAs/ Post Graduates in Rural Management/ Forest Management will be given preference.
  • Outstanding project management skills with exposure to digital agricultural advisory services.
  • Ability to act as a representative of the project in public forums.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi.
  • Deep commitment to the eradication of poverty and alignment with Grameen Foundations mission.

Reporting and relationships: The position reports to the Project Director.
