Job description:
To be responsible for adequate well trained staff available for the department based on the scope of tests, complexity of tests and volume of work in the department
To take ownership of instruments and tasks assigned to each staff
To monitor equipment function through routine equipment maintenance (PM Calibration)
To monitor reagent, calibrator and control inventory
To ensure that expired material is not in stock or in use
To ensure adequate stock in department proper utilization of reagents control material
To do microscopy wherever applicable
To be responsible for authentication of reports
To ensure all department staff has adequate resources to perform various aspects of work required
To ensure that the department staff adheres to the processes and protocols defined
To review of validation records for new kits with evidence
To provide inter-lab comparisons, critical values documentation notification to doctors
To identify need for adding new tests in scope
To actively participate in monthly QC review, internal audits external audits
To have knowledge of the costs and consumable expenses per test, number of tests outsourced and cost involved, cost to lab for new tests added v/s cost when outsourced, repeats or rerun costs
To be responsible for adequate use of controls and calibrators
To assist chief pathologist regarding sales, profits, cost expenses to meet/exceed budgeted financial expectations for the department
To innovate and evolve to drive lean processes and error-free systems. Monitor and Reduce the turnaround time through better efficiencies
To spearhead relationship with doctors and clients in the domain
To speak to patients regarding clinical history
To collaborate with the Sales Marketing team for product penetration
To train Sales, Marketing, Centre Managers and working with them in close collaboration
To be responsible for clinical correlation, STAT reporting, authentication of results
To monitor error logs with CA/PA
To maintain quality results by monitoring standards and controls (IQC EQC)
To perform advanced trouble shooting; quality control measures and protocols
To attend external CME s to enhance knowledge
To understand thoroughly tests and instrument SOP s and amending in case of discrepancies
To investigate resolves technical problems
To recommend measures to improve testing procedures, use of equipment and needs for new equipment
To conduct research to develop custom procedures as needed, working in conjunction with chief pathologist
