Job Description

NAME OF THE PROGRAM: ROMILLA PALLIATIVE CARE (RPC)

JOB LOCATION: HOLY FAMILY HOSPITAL COMPOUND-BANDRA

PROJECT ROMILA This project seeks to provide palliative care to all people, irrespective of caste, creed, religion and economic status, to allow them to live their life with minimum pain, with dignity and comfort, to the very end. It seeks to provide prevention of and relief from suffering to patients with life-limiting illness or experiencing intense pain through provision of medical support, counselling and spiritual services and is a pilot initiative for SNEHA.

THE PROFILE The Palliative care team, working in conjunction with the patient s attending doctors, will evaluate the case, manage the treatment to alleviate pain, and will attempt to keep the patient as comfortable as possible through medication and advice. The nurse will provide support through nursing care and will train family members in home-based care.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To provide nursing support to patients approaching RPC for Palliative Care. The Nurses will provide support through nursing care using updated current practices and will train family

members in home-based care. They will be a crucial component of the palliative care team and will provide their services not just at the RPC but also during home visits. They are also responsible for documentation of

patient records. A major component of their work focuses on the delivery and of emotional care and support to patients and

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Educational qualification: BSc in Nursing or higher At least 5 or more years of prior experience in a hospital/nursing home setup Valid registration from Maharashtra Nursing Council Prior experience of working with palliative care preferred Command on English, Hindi and Marathi

Patience and empathy Effective Communication, personal and interpersonal skills Team working skills Sound values and work ethics

Experience in Nursing in reputed hospital, patient support skills requisite for palliative care and data management.

Willingness to do outreach and awareness activities. Willing to do home visits which is a mandate.

Remuneration be based on prior experience and suitability to the role.
