Job Description

Conceptualised in the year 2004 as a philanthropic initiative for the Eastern and North - Eastern parts of India and the neighboring countries, the Tata Medical Center (TMC) started operations in Kolkata on May 16, 2011. The hospital is governed by a charitable trust Tata Medical Centre Trust. It is an integrated Oncology facility with well - trained professional staff and equipped with modern facilities and the most contemporary medical equipment. Set up at a cost of Rs. 350 crores, the Hospital, with a capacity of 183 beds, serves all sections of the society, with 50% of the infrastructure earmarked for free or subsidized treatment for the underprivileged sections. Tata Medical Center is currently in an expansion mode with another 250 beds being added to the current bed strength. The hospital provides a wide spectrum of services from diagnosis, therapy to rehabilitation and palliative support in cancer. The Institution's objective is to excel in service, education and research.

To fulfil the above objectives TMC invites applications for the position of Fellow - Medical Oncology

Department of Medical Oncology looks after patients with cancer and had 4 consultants. The candidate will be able to work hand in hand with a young and dynamic team in a cancer centre. The current post of medical officer and fellows in Medical Oncology will be getting experience in the field of Medical Oncology and this may help them for specific oncology and allied DM entrance exams. The post will be supervised by consultants working in the department of medical oncology.

Qualifications: Essential: MD/DNB in General Medicine or any allied specialities

1. To look after in - patients and out patients who are under the treatment of Medical Oncology.

2. To attend to emergency patients under Medical Oncology who present to Emergency during day time.

3. To do clinical rounds daily in the in - patient along with consultants of the Medical Oncology team.

4. To understand the care needs of patients who are being discharged home and help set - up out - patient treatment plan post discharge.

6. To work and interface with multidisciplinary teams and from various other specialities as Surgical Oncology, Paediatric Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Palliative Medicine and other specialities.

7. To engage in audit and research activities of the department. 8. To do night calls on a shared rota (around once a week or less) for palliative medicine and
