Pastry chefs create and design pastries, cakes, breads, and other baked goods, such as pies, doughnuts, cookies, and croissants. Pastry chefs are responsible for researching and developing recipes for baked goods. Pastry chefs also choose the type of ingredients to use and prepare the baked goods.
Pastry Chef Duties:
Provide exceptional food services to customers
Provide exceptional customer service
Estimate and cook food products
Maintain a safe and clean working environment
Maintain inventory levels of food products
Maintain work records to show production
Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards
Follow company and departmental policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned
Pastry Chef Responsibilities:
Create custom desserts from recipes, and oversee the preparation of all baked goods
Create new dessert recipes, and test new flavors
Develop seasonal and holiday menus and desserts
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, making sure all equipment is sanitized
Keep accurate customer and volume records
Handle daily cash reconciliation
Assist in the design and layout of new menu proposals and products
Maintain and order food inventory, including fresh produce, dairy products, meats, and produce
Assist with employee scheduling
