Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Consult with internal teams to assess needs and recommend appropriate DBMS operational methods and tools.
- Document and maintain operational procedures and standards for business critical databases.
- Manage the operational aspects of Cloud-based and on-prem databases, including security, auditing, backup and recovery.
- Define security requirements and operational procedures and implement appropriate tools and methods to ensure compliance with security framework and protect company systems and information.
- Design and implement automated deployment tools and processes.
- Maintain and support development, test and production databases for user access, table changes, performance and troubleshooting.
- Monitor database performance and ensure database availability.
- Define performance tuning criteria and methods, and use those to ensure database performance meets business requirements.
- Plan, manage and implement the installation of new or enhanced applications/systems with minimal impact to users and infrastructure.
- Test and implement new database features for general use. Build automated database testing solutions.
- Automate and test backup and recovery solutions for highly available databases across multiple technologies.
- Help design and evaluate major changes to standards and procedures related to database technology direction changes.
Required:
- DBA experience in a production environment
- Extensive experience in SQL in Oracle, MySQL and other RDBMS.
- Experience managing business critical production databases in a Cloud environment.
- Experience using Data modeling and database design, performance tuning, optimization, schema creation and management.
- Strong skillset with RedHat Enterprise Linux, shell scripting, and Linux security.
- Familiarity with database design patterns, data analytics, and data-oriented frameworks.
Preferred:
- Experience in version controls such as SVN, Git, Stash
- PL/SQL programming experience
- Strong backup and recovery skillsets for multiple platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, AWS RDS, etc.
- Experience using development tools such as Oracle SQL Developer, SQL Server data tools, and any other SQL development tools.
- Excellent Analytical, Problem Solving skills, strict attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as work within a team environment
- Experience with NoSQL technologies: Snowflake, MongoDB, AWS datalake, AWS Glue.
- Experienced with IaC using ansible, terraform, or cloudformation.
- Experience in the retail industry, e-retail, big data.
- Experience working with remote teams.
- Able to travel national and international if the situation requires it.
- Companies in Background: Any Cloud based product companies, especially start-ups.
