Take a hands-on approach to all aspects of writing, editing, designing, planning and publishing content. Editing and coaching to improve public-facing content as well as internal business communications
Develop relationships with key stakeholders, and execute administrative and content aspects of the initiative
Handle all duties associated with live publication, doing so from a hands-on leadership role. Demonstrate strong communication with production leaders across SIG and ESPN
Coordinate with SIGs long-term planning committee. Ensure that our plans and publishing budget are up-to-date and properly aligned for events of interest to our fans
Coach peers and others in the Digital Publishing Editor role, ensuring consistent style, news judgment and tone
Aggressively edit, post and review the contents of the SIG blog and other digital SIG content. Read through the SIG blog submissions throughout the day and ensure all are proofread before publication
Look up information in our proprietary and/or third-party tools, such as TruMedia, Synergy and Stats ICE
Partner and collaborate with cross-platform editors and the News Desk to ensure SIGs digital content is consistent with editorial direction
Experience in graphics or media, with at least two years in a content-focused role
Outstanding news judgment in a production environment to craft and execute news in any situation
Demonstrated proficiency on design tools such as HTML; Photoshop; Illustrator; Flash multimedia, graphics, music and sound
Deep and broad sports knowledge across multiple sports, with expert-level recall of current and historical sports statistics, news, events and milestones
Working knowledge of Mac and Windows platforms
Experience with major Internet search engines and fluency in electronic newsgathering techniques, including quickly navigating the Internet and a knowledge set around social media
Experience with the critical duties of a social media and graphics designer
Provide full availability for this position, which will include nights, weekends and holidays
A minimum of 3 years experience creating graphics/designs with news content, sports statistics, or covering or analyzing sports events for television, online, or print mediums
Strong people management and communication skills. Able to help build a team, be part of a team and communicate effectively in all directions, with subordinates, peers and supervisors
Demonstrated competence across a range of technology tools, particularly with mobile and social media applications, and production software
Proven ability to tell engaging, creative stories with the best statistics, across multiple media platforms
Spanish-language writing and speaking skills
