Job Description
Role & Responsibilities:
The Storage & Backup Administrator will be responsible for operating Instinets global SAN & NAS Storage, Data Protection (Backup) and Archiving software and hardware. This will include ensuring operations run consistently in a standard way across all regions and that data is appropriately stored, protected or archived within agreed service levels.
As part of the 24x7 follow-the-sun support service model, be responsible for incident and change management and provide technical guidance to other members of the team or other infrastructure teams. This is an individual contributor position within Mumbai IT team and is a critical part of our Engineering organization.
Detailed role and responsibilities are as follows:
- Update and maintain standard operating procedures for SAN, NAS, Backup & Archive and ensure processes are followed.
- Maintain the health of the storage systems ensuring hardware faults and resolved by the vendor in a timely manner.
- Monitor performance of storage environments and the systems that rely on them.
- Perform emergency and planned maintenance of storage-based systems.
- Create and execute storage-based changes.
- Work on projects as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Maintain standard documentation and ensure adherence to the global standard is followed.
- Build productive working relationships with peer teams.
- Automate repetitive tasks.
Shift:
Shifts (rotation basis):
- Mon to Friday 8.30 am IST to 5.30 pm IST
- Mon to Friday 1.30 pm IST to 10.30 pm IST
- Weekend support ad hoc project basis / on rotation
Technical:
- Strong experience of administrating one or more enterprise storage and backup solutions with one or more Cloud providers
- Strong experience of Hitachi storage solutions, with an exposure to Dell storage solutions
- Proficient in administrating a Commvault backup solution
- Familiar with LTO, S3 object storage, shared filesystems and block storage
- AD, DNS, DHCP & WINS integration, Group Policy, Security (including SID, GUID, permissions &
NTFS), TCP/IP, SNMP, LDAP & Meta-directory technologies
- Current LAN/WAN technologies
- Brocade SAN Switch experience is a must
- Knowledge of Linux OS, Familiar with scripting, automation tooling, such as Python or Ansible
- Experience in supporting network attached storage.
- Team Player with excellent verbal and written communications required
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Quick learner
- Highly proactive and takes initiative to identify problem areas and evolve solutions.
