- About the Role Sr. Engineering Managers (SEMs) lead engineers across levels of diverse groups of people who are moving towards realizing Flipkarts vision. They set the direction and the long term vision for the team, partner with the product, business, and other stakeholders to realize their vision. The teams work on a spectrum of products and platforms which power Flipkart. They lead the way for the teams to evangelize various ideas, provide technical leadership, and facilitate platformisation of the systems across the ecosystem. SEMs partner with product teams on key business metrics in their areas, lead the way for innovative solutions to complex and challenging domain problems and drive agility in execution by leading by example. They build a team culture, drive accountability and responsiveness, provide mentorship and career development for the team, and are inspirations for adopting agile methodologies by removing impediments along the way with the big picture in mind. About the team Currently in the process of expanding our new initiatives, we require a seasoned Senior Manager of Engineering with a background in Product Engineering and a well rounded experience across various areas of design and architecture, technology roadmaps, technical mentoring, product delivery and more. The ideal candidate will have roughly 12 to 20 years of relevant industry experience and a strong technology, business acumen coupled with excellent people management skills. Experience in managing multiple product and business vertical would be good. Roles & Responsibilities : Provide technical leadership to major projects and guide engineering Managers, Architects along with their teams of 30-40 top notch engineers Chalk-out and implement the vision, technology roadmap and business goals Enable team contribution towards product strategies Create clear career paths for team members and ensure their growth by mentoring them Operate with scale and speed, amidst flux in the fast-paced environment Work closely with Engineering Leaders, Managers; Product Management, Business Development and Operation teams, and enable them by providing scalable and high quality technology solutions at a rapid pace Set up best practices for development and overlook its adoption Architect and design technically robust, flexible and scalable solutions Work with CX team, business analysts, and product leaders to estimate and plan projects in an agile environment Drive exceptional performance and collaborate with other teams on unclear interfaces amidst rapidly evolving organizational activities To succeed in this role you should have the following Excellent leadership skills to manage and mentor teams. A deep understanding of technologies and architecture in a highly scalable and available set-up. Expertise in highly transactional, large relational and complex systems. Strong object oriented design skills, and an uncanny ability to design intuitive modules and class-level interfaces. Superior management skills to manage multi-engineer projects and deliver high quality projects on time. Strong technical and product competence with a track record of individual technical accomplishments.,
