Job Description

Machine Setup and Operation
- Set up CNC machines (lathe) according to job specifications, ensuring the correct tools, fixtures, and materials are used.
- Program and operate CNC machines to produce parts from detailed engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Monitor machine operations during production runs to ensure quality and efficiency.

Quality Control
- Inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.).
- Ensure that all parts meet the required specifications and tolerances.
- Make necessary adjustments to machine settings or tooling to maintain part quality throughout the production run.
- Perform routine checks and maintain detailed production logs, documenting any deviations or issues.

Machine Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Conduct routine maintenance on CNC machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and changing worn or damaged parts (e.g., tools, cutters, etc.).
- Troubleshoot machine issues and work with maintenance teams to resolve problems promptly to minimize downtime.
- Report any malfunctions or defects in machines, tools, or materials to the supervisor or maintenance team.

Production Monitoring and Optimization
- Monitor the production process to identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Adjust machine parameters and tooling as necessary to optimize production output while maintaining quality standards.
- Maintain an organized and clean work area in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Safety Compliance
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe operating procedures.
- Identify and report potential safety hazards to supervisors or safety officers.
- Ensure the CNC machines are properly maintained and calibrated for safe operation.

Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and quality targets.
- Communicate effectively regarding machine performance, production issues, and any delays.
- Participate in team meetings and provide input on production processes and improvement initiatives.

Documentation and Reporting
- Accurately record machine settings, tool usage, and production data in daily logs and work orders.
- Report production status and any problems or delays to the supervisor.
- Ensure that work orders and production documentation are complete and up to date.
