Job Description

  • Maintains standards & policies and patient care in the department.
  • Ensures optimum utilization of resources and quality assurance in service delivery.
  • Maintains a radioactively safe & infection free environment in the department.
  • Calculate, measure and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used and disposed.
  • Maintain and calibrate radioisotope and laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare stock radiopharmaceuticals, adhering to safety standards that minimize radiation exposure to workers and patients.
  • Explain test procedures and safety precautions to patients and provide them with assistance during test procedures.
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals or radiation intravenously to detect or treat diseases, using radioisotope equipment, under direction of a physician.
  • Disposal of radioactive materials and store radiopharmaceuticals, following radiation safety procedures.
  • To be aware of radiation safety protocols and competent to implement them.
  • To ensure safety of all patients during the procedures.
  • Monitor radiation exposures, and assess environmental and personnel doses, evaluate safety of the activities and facilities and maintain a minimally radioactive environment.
  • Respond to radiological emergencies and radioactive spills.
  • Apply for regulatory licenses and registrations.
  • Assist RSO in the survey and documentation.
  • Train or supervise subordinate nuclear medicine technologists.
  • Plans and provides health education to patients and relatives.
  • Takes part in training and Staff Development Program.
  • Record & reporting of all Nuclear medicine Department procedures correctly and promptly.
  • Records and reports any losses and breakage of Machine.
  • Provides Psychological support to patient and relatives.
  • Reporting system to any incident to the concerned person.
  • Maintains good interpersonal relationship with patient relatives colleagues co-workers and the department staff.
  • Ability to motivate team to achieve goals. Co-staffs, Housekeeping Maintenance, Environmental Hygiene.
  • Ability to handle, calm, an emotionally, sad, depressed, anxious patients & their relatives.
  • Ability to calm patients who fear procedures & Equipments etc.
  • Ability to comprehend verbal instructions given by Doctors, Supervisor, or head of the department.
