THE OPPORTUNITY We count on our IT team to work in close alignment with all internal business units to provide excellent IT support and solutions to our global user community and on-site support in the Denver office. As the IT Linux Systems Engineer for Xactly, you will be primarily responsible for Xactlys Linux environments, scripting deployments, and India Infrastructure Systems, ensuring 24X7 uptime for local network and VPN portals. It is critical that this person is proactive in securing all the logical business systems and intellectual property behind the firewall. You will be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related corporate infrastructure. In addition, you will provide overlap support for local servers and clients to the system administrators. The technology landscape is evolving, and the person in this role participates in technical research and development to enable innovation. This person will work closely with other administrators on the Infrastructure team to ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to the Vision of Xactly as set out by the VP of IT. You may also take on projects and be responsible for all phases, including definition, analysis, design, build, testing and change management. THE SKILL SET Excellent customer service, time management, communication and organizational skills. High degree of personal integrity and professionalism, and can work effectively with minimal supervision in a collaborative environment. Bachelor degree or equivalent. 5+ years experience administering Enterprise Linux (Red-Hat derivative) systems including configuration, setup, troubleshooting, planning, designing, implementation, and user support; experience supporting Windows Server administration and some virtual/wireless network appliances a plus. 2+ years experience in a startup environment where youve supported multiple systems/applications. High degree of personal integrity and professionalism. Able to adapt to a constantly changing environment. Experience with on-premise infrastructure and hybrid cloud environments; an ability to deploy and maintain servers in local hypervisors and cloud environments. Experience with KVM-based hypervisors a plus. Experience with AAA and directory protocols, including LDAP, Kerberos, RADIUS, and SAML. Proven ability to configure, troubleshoot, and debug AAA servers in a heterogenous environment. Experience using automated deployment tools, such as Ansible and Terraform. The ideal candidate will be able to debug and extend existing Ansible playbooks and work with the team to architect new servers and services. Experience with scripting languages, especially Bash; other commonly-used scripting languages are a plus. Candidates must be able to effectively utilize coreutils to accomplish complex tasks. Experience working with SQL databases as an administrator; an ability to debug database servers and understand basic SQL queries. Experience working with common OSS web server and proxy packages, such as Nginx, Apache, and HAProxy. Working knowledge of TCP/IP and basic network services, such as DNS. Experience with dual-stack (IPv6) environments a plus. The ability to help troubleshoot complex connectivity issues with the network team is a must. WITHIN ONE MONTH, YOULL Develop a working relationship with the VP of IT and Infrastructure Team. Work with the Infra team to learn the systems we use, and policies and procedures. Explore and become familiar with the existing server environment. Become familiar with existing wifi networks, existing LAN and WAN. WITHIN THREE MONTHS, YOULL Understand the full system architecture and be able to maintain and recommend improvements. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing systems. Work with the IT team on project planning and scope exercises to continuously improve our infrastructure performance. Be able to document all configurations, and create best practices around Linux deployment. WITHIN SIX MONTHS, YOULL Provide guidance on Linux design, deployable scripting, and scalable upgrades. Ensure best practices are in place for new and existing use cases. Make strategic recommendations for processes around hardening and maintaining our infrastructure, while improving end user experiences.
