Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced AWS Platform Engineer to join our team. This role requires expertise in creating Infrastructure as Code (IaC) on AWS, specifically tailored to meet the needs of our data engineering teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, advanced Python development capabilities, and a deep understanding of AWS services. Key Responsibilities: Design and implement a variety of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions on AWS using tools like CloudFormation (CFM). Deploy and operate the AWS platform based on requirements from data engineering teams. Lead a small team (2 pizzas squad) to drive project initiatives and ensure timely delivery. Create scalable and stable serverless architectures and designs to support data engineering workflows. Develop high-quality Python applications with a focus on Object-Oriented programming. Write comprehensive unit tests for Python code to ensure reliability and maintainability. Utilize a wide range of AWS services, including but not limited to: S3 Lambda Glue SQS IAM DynamoDB CloudWatch EventBridge Step Functions EMR (including serverless) Redshift (including serverless) API Gateway and/or AppSync Optionally, work with AWS Lake Formation, DMS, DataSync, and AppFlow. Collaborate on REST API development and integration. Utilize CloudFormation and AWS CDK for infrastructure management. Apply data engineering principles to create efficient and scalable solutions. Previous experience with Azure AD and OAuth2 is a plus. Engage in Business Driven Development (BDD) testing or integration testing as needed. Optionally, experience with Node.js/React development is beneficial. Required Qualifications: 5+ years of relevant experience as a senior Platform Engineer. Proven ability to lead a small team effectively. Strong expertise in creating scalable serverless architectures on AWS. Proficiency in Python (Object-Oriented) development and writing unit tests. Extensive experience with various AWS services mentioned above. Strong understanding of Data Engineering principles. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with AWS Lake Formation, DMS, DataSync, and AppFlow. Previous experience with Azure AD and OAuth2. Experience with BDD testing methodologies. Optional experience in Node.js/React development.
