Job Description
- The Team Leader (TL) shall manage a team of FACTS design. The team shall also support the design and engineering activities of sub-station and renewable energy projects. The Team will be supported by the civil& structural engineering and mechanical engineering groups from other teams. The TL shall plan, allocate and review tasks allocated to the different groups of design engineers. The TL shall be responsible for the delivery of tasks as per the required timelines, quality, and costs. The distribution of KPIs amongst different team members and the monitoring of the same will be the responsibility of the TL. The TL shall conceptualise the solution to be provided together with estimates of material requirement to the projects, procurement and sales departments for the different projects and bids. The TL shall interact with other team leaders for sharing of knowledge and best practices as well as efficient utilisation of resources. The TL shall also interact with external clients to ensure smooth implementation of projects. The TL shall report to the President (Engineering). The candidate for the above post shall possess the following skills / experience: Technical Sound knowledge of Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) technologies and their implementation, especially STATCOM and SVC installed in power grid. Experience of completing design and engineering of STATCOM projects in national grid level Understanding of topics on civil & structural engineering and mechanical systems Should have experience on both outdoor Air insulated and indoor Gas insulated sub-stations Knowledge of control and protection systems of FACTS and their realisation In-depth understanding of various standards and norms (esp BIS, IEC, CBIP, CEA, IEEE, NBC) used in sub-stations and FACTS devices In-depth knowledge of design considerations of various equipment like power electronic modules, GIS, circuit breakers, instrument transformers, disconnectors, power transformers, reactors, capacitors, cables, etc used in power transmission industry Interfacing between electrical, civil, structural and mechanical systems of FACTS and sub-station Estimation of quantities Preparation and review of drawings & design documents Ability to carry out root cause analysis for events in FACTS / power system Understanding of planning of power systems and application of FACTS therein Basic knowledge of EHVsub-stations Ability to assess safety aspects during design stage Commercial Ability to identify risks and opportunities and quantify the same in terms of quantity of material, time & effort Preparation of solutions to optimize costs and implementation time Estimation of man-hours required to engineer a project Knowledge of market of FACTS including potential customers, suppliers, etc Communication Good presentation skills, should have the capability to prepare & deliver presentations on technical topics Preparation of technical reports, specification documents, etc Ability to lead discussions with internal and external stake holders, especially on technical topics Preparation of periodic reports for internal and external reviews Conduct trainings on technical topics for internal and external participants People skills Ability to lead and manage a team of at least 5-6 engineers of different disciplines working on a common project Assign and allocate tasks to team members and review the same Assign key performance parameters for the team and ensure the same are met Planning of work load for team on long term as well as short term Coordinate with different stake-holders outside own team for successful implementation of projects Mentoring of new hires Identifying training and skill upgradation needs for team members Computer literacy Should be proficient in use of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) and CAD tools like AutoCAD Proficiency in tools like MS project would be an asset Should be able to finalise requirements for procurement and implementation of new software tools together with the hardware required,
