Job Description
Responsibilities for Substation Design Engineer.
This role is responsible for:
- Creating detailed engineering scope documents from a high level functional document.
- Design of Civil substation facilities including site and buswork layouts, grounding, foundations, controls, protection, metering and equipment drawings for internal projects.
- Deliver accurate and thorough designs that meet applicable industry standards and engineering practices.
- Ensure designs are compatible with good construction practices and overall due diligence.
- Prepare cost/time estimates when requested.
- Ensure accuracy of return data for records updates.
- Identification of material required, and in some cases specify devices and equipment to be used in the design and construction.
- Provide technical support during construction and commissioning.
- Knowledge about software - Auto CAD, MicroStation.
- Review the designs underway by external contractors to ensure compliance within scope and with set standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Relevant experience of direct experience in substation design, ranging from 132kV to 800kV.
- Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and develop strong internal and external relationships.
- Excellent time management and organization skills, ability to multi task.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
