- Job title L1 - IT Network Engineer LAN And WAN Reports to Support Head Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented L1 IT Network Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in network support, troubleshooting, and maintenance. The role involves providing first-level technical support, monitoring network performance, and ensuring the smooth operation of IT infrastructure. The candidate should have a strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and tools, along with excellent problem-solving skills. Key Responsibilities Network Monitoring & Support: Monitor network performance and ensure high availability and reliability. Provide first-level technical support for network-related issues. Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity, hardware, and software issues. Network Maintenance: Perform routine network maintenance tasks, including updates, patches, and backups. Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.). Ensure network security by implementing and monitoring security protocols. Incident Management: Log and track incidents using the IT ticketing system. Escalate complex issues to L2/L3 engineers or relevant teams as needed. Follow up with users to ensure issues are resolved satisfactorily. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures. Prepare regular reports on network performance, incidents, and resolutions. Assist in creating and updating network diagrams and inventory. Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with L2/L3 engineers and other IT teams to resolve network issues. Coordinate with vendors for hardware/software support and maintenance. Assist in the implementation of new network projects and upgrades. Qualifications Bachelors degree in IT, Computer Science, Networking, or a related field. Relevant Experience: Minimum 5 years in network support or a similar role. Strong knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, etc.). Hands-on experience with network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.). Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, PRTG, SolarWinds). Basic understanding of network security principles and protocols. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
