Job Description
The Portfolio Manager will focus on supporting and overseeing projects within a portfolio by mentoring delivery managers on delivery assurance and project management aspects.
The Portfolio Manager will help the continued development of the consistent and repeatable approach applied by Civica PPM group, and use their experience and knowledge to mentor and develop Civica Vadodara Delivery managers.
The Portfolio Manager will need to demonstrate excellent organisational skills through a successful and proven record in project delivery including the co-ordination of staff during these deliveries.
- Accountable for delivery of projects within the portfolio. Oversee and report status of project delivery, including KPIs and financial reporting within their portfolio.
- Act as first escalation point for delivery managers and project stakeholders.
- Show willingness to work as a delivery manager in the interim or as need arises.
- Facilitate and track risks & issues to the success of the projects within the portfolio.
- Ensures realistic project plans executed and maintained by regular and accurate communication to stakeholders, consistent with the methodology in use (agile, waterfall, etc.).
- Assist the Deputy Head of Delivery and Head of Delivery in ensuring the Civica Vadodara Senior Leadership Team (SLT) are aware of any significant project / delivery risks or disputes in a timely fashion, and take the lead in ensuring early mitigating actions.
- Mentor Delivery Managers in their day-to-day management duties.
- The ideal candidate will have a good academic background with at-least graduate studies or relevant experience
- Proven programme management experience thru successful project delivery.
- Experience of managing a portfolio of more than 10 projects of team size varying from five to sixty team members in a distributed environment.
- Demonstrable hands on experience of delivering software projects using different technologies and methodologies, including but not limited to Waterfall and Agile working practices
- Experience of delivering complex projects by using the best practices of project management.
- Experience of financial reporting for projects for efforts and costs.
- Experience of budgeting, forecasting and reporting across multiple delivery streams
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to efficiently communicate with international colleagues and senior management teams
- Attention to detail, but also able to manage against the bigger picture
- Intellectually strong with an excellent academic record
- Proactive personality and able to work autonomously
