Position: Maintenance: Assistant Manager Department: Manufacturing Position Overview ( Scope of the role & Outcomes): Manage maintenance and upgradation of plant and machinery of BIL factory .Ensure equipment availability in order to meet production plans. Key Stakeholders: Internal : Maintenance Manager, shift Quality officers, Engineering Officers,Assistant manager Production, Assistant manager Quality, Engineering Stores officer,EHS officer.Regional engineer. External : State Electricity Board. Electrical Inspectorate , State Pollution Control Board, Inspector of Factories, Explosives Department, Vendors, Contractors Education: B.E., with Mechanical/Electrical Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Food processing Industries/any Engineering Industry Keyskills: Preventive Maintenance , Maintenance Management , Maintenance Activities , Electrical maintenance , Mechanical maintenance , Plant maintenance Competencies: Basic Knowledge about Automation Biscuit oven and labour handling; Basic Electrical knowledge like interpretation of Single line diagrams, interlocks etc.,lubrication, bearings, maintenance planning, spares planning , maintenance budget controls. Key Responsibilities : Ensure implementation of preventive maintenance schedules and monitor adherence to the same. Identify potentialequipment failures through daily inspections, special monitoring techniques like bearing vibration monitors etc an d take proactive action before equipment failure. Ensure root cause analysis for failures and identify and implement corrective action plans like changes to preventive maintenance schedule, modification of design and changes to maintenance practices. Constantly track maintenance spends and ensure appropriate cost controls. Ensure any overspend is incurred after appropriate approvals as per chart of authority. Ensure Uptime and equipment availability for production Maintaining reordering levels of spares and coordinate procurement after checking the same; Implement recommendations of regular maintenance audit by regional engineer Manage maintenance costs Ensure engineering stores audits are conducted once in three months; maintain records and registers; Indigenize spares along with vendors and maintenance officers; monitor performance and then accept in order to ensure timely availability of appropriate spares Ensure cost controls Maintain Equipment Uptime: Assess breakdown and allocate support to ensure minimum machine downtime Ensure Statutory and Legal compliance: Visit required statutory authorities and arrange for inspections in order to ensure safe working conditions in the Factory. Ensure compliance to EHS processes like Safe work permits, Machinery lockout/tagouts, Review Machine safety risk analysis, implement recommendations of external auditors like OHSAS auditors. Review and Reporting: Regularly review process log books to monitor plant and machinery performance, discuss production problems with production and maintenance officers, Monitor safety aspects inside the factory, particularly electrical installations, machinery Others: Annual Budgeting (Operations)- Review current year expenses on power and fuel consumption data, maintenance and repair cost and prepare budget for next year. Scrap/ Waste Management -Assess machine condition and availability of spares; take decision on selling; coordinate for disposal. Raise appropriate Write-off requests and when agreed with maintenance manager. People Accountabilities ( direct reportees of the Machine they handle) Support Maintenance Manager in ensuring adherence to core BIL processes like KPI setting, Mid Year Review & Annual assessment Motivating and coaching technicians and fitters towards developing a high performing and skilled maintenance team Administrative responsibility over maintenance workmen.
